Hublot loves golf! Today, at LVMH Watch Week 2022, we’re extremely proud to introduce the Big Bang Unico Golf Orange Carbon, an entirely mechanical golf watch that can keep track of your score over the course of an 18-hole round.
In 2017 and in partnership with the most successful golfer of his generation Dustin Johnson, we introduced the world’s first mechanical golf watch, the Big Bang Unico Golf. Most golf watches are digital, but this innovative Swiss Made watch brought the joy of watchmaking mechanics to golfers’ wrists.
We developed a module for our Unico movement so that through three apertures, the watch showed golfers which hole they were on, how many shots they’d taken on that hole, and their cumulative score for the round. The Big Bang Unico Golf Orange Carbon continues the story, casing the ground-breaking Hublot MHUB1580 automatic movement in zesty, lightweight orange carbon.
The 45mm Big Bang Unico Golf Orange Carbon is simple to operate. The shot-counting mechanism is activated by a yellow putter-shaped pusher at 2 o’clock, which also advances the yellow stroke counter visible through an aperture at 3 o’clock. When it’s time to move to the next hole, another putter-shaped pusher at 4 o’clock resets the shot indication to zero and advances the hole indication at 9 o’clock by one hole. The cumulative score goes up by one with every recorded shot, and is shown through an aperture at 6 o’clock.
At the end of a round, the display can be reset to zero via the pusher at 8 o’clock. This pusher can be locked by rotating it 45 degrees to avoid accidentally resetting your score during a round. And because the watch is skeletonised, revealing the movement’s inner workings, every operation is visualised by an intriguing dance of precisely choreographed moving parts – just like a good golf swing.
Jon Rahm is getting stronger and stronger every time he steps up to the plate, and will go down in history in Spanish golf. The golfer from Barrika won the PGA Tour Memorial tournament this Sunday, held on the Muirfield Village Golf Club course in Ohio, and is now Number One in the world for the first time in his career.
Seve Ballesteros was the only Spanish golfer to reach such astounding heights before Jon, and it was more than 30 years ago.
Rahm achieved many things this Sunday. He won his fourth PGA Tour tournament (fifth if we include the Hero World Challenge which is not official) and his eleventh as a professional. He took home the title on Jack Nicklaus’ turf, which is something that always shows character. He won in very difficult conditions, with firm greens and fairways, the firmest in a very long time in the PGA Tour, with wind, rain…He took home the trophy after a final round of nine majestic holes. It couldn’t have been played much better than Rahm did on that stretch. Additionally, it’s the fourth season in which he’s won at least one PGA Tour tournament, only within reach of a select few. He hasn’t missed a year without a win since he went pro. Incredible.
Jon’s win in the memorial was a result of his extremely high level of play in all aspects of the game, the only way to win on such a demanding course as the Memorial. His long game was extraordinary, especially on the tee shots, his putt came out in full force, consistent, just like it was before, and his short game never fails to show up when he needs it the most.
Rahm finished out his victory with rounds of 69, 67, 68 and 75 shots. The round on Saturday was one of the best of his career, in very tough conditions, and playing like the star that he is. That’s what allowed him to start off on Sunday with a four-shot advantage, to which he added four more after a stellar performance on the front nine. It doesn’t get much better than that, pure concentration, and very sure of himself. He wanted to commit to his shots, and he passed with flying colors.
He went into the back nine holes with an eight-shot advantage, and he still had to suffer through the last nine holes to secure the victory. At the highest level, there are no freebies. Two bad holes (10th and 11th) made the rankings very tight with Ryan Palmer, although in reality, Jon was never less than three shots ahead, a solid lead.
The Spanish golfer cleared up any and all doubt with an unforgettable shot, one for the books. He made a sensational chip shot on the 16th hole for birdie, although afterwards, that birdie became a bogey due to a penalty (his ball moved slightly when he was preparing the shot). That fantastic approach was the icing on the cake to a tremendous victory, with the likes of a Major, or at least the perfect precursor to a Major, his next big objective after becoming Number One in the world.
The final scene on the 18th hole, greeted by Jack Nicklaus, tournament host, was the perfect ending to a fairy-tale week. Victory, Number One, and a blessing from one of golf’s biggest legends. It doesn’t get much better than that.

The Open of Spain returns to the European Tour, at the National Center from April 12 to 15
The Open of Spain, one of the tournaments with more history and tradition of the Continent, returns to the European Tour. It will take place from April 12 to 15 and will celebrate its 91st edition at the Madrid National Golf Center, headquarters of the Royal Spanish Federation, with a prize of one and a half million euros.
After his absence in the international calendar of the European Tour in 2017, the tournament returns fulfilling the promise made by Keith Pelley, CEO of the European Tour, during his visit to Madrid last year, when he promised that the Spanish Open would be disputase again in 2018.
Keith Pelley: “I am pleased to announce the return of the Open of Spain, in whose track records are the great names of golf; We are curious to know who will add his to such illustrious list within two months.
“Our sport is based on national championships like the Open of Spain; for this reason, I thank the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the Madrid Federation for helping us make it a reality. “
The first edition of the Open of Spain was held in 1912 at the Polo GC in Madrid, and was the tournament that opened the first season of the newly created European Tour in 1972, in Pals (Girona), where Antonio Garrido was proclaimed champion. Over the years, four other Spaniards succeeded him in his record: Seve Ballesteros (1981 El Prat, 1985 Vallromanes, 1995 Club de Campo Villa de Madrid), Sergio García (2002 El Cortijo), Álvaro Quirós (2010 RCG Sevilla) and Miguel Ángel Jiménez (2014 PGA of Catalunya).
Also, they have inscribed their name in the list of winners of the Open of Spain such as Arnold Palmer (1975 La Manga Club), Bernhard Langer (1984 and 1989 Parador El Saler Golf Course), Nick Faldo (1987 RC Las Brisas), Padraig Harrington (1996 Club de Campo Villa de Madrid) and Charl Schwartzel (2007 National Golf Center), and number one in Europe such as Colin Montgomerie (1994 Club de Campo Villa de Madrid) and Robert Karlsson (2001 Parador El Saler Golf Course) .
Schwartzel won in 2007 the second of his eleven titles in the European Tour, four years before donning the “green jacket” in Augusta.
Gonzaga Escauriaza, president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation: “Recovering the Open in Spain is great news for Spanish golf and we are very happy to welcome you to the National Golf Center, the home of all the federated. Our country has always had a relevant position in European golf, not only for the outstanding triumphs of Spanish players, both amateur and professional, but also for being one of the main tourist destinations. For all these reasons, Spain deserves its Open and I am convinced that our professionals will support you with your assistance. I am grateful to Keith Pelley, the Federation of Madrid and all those who have stepped up their shoulders so that one of the most important tournaments in Europe will once again occupy its place in the international calendar. “
Ignacio Guerras, president of the Golf Federation of Madrid:
“The Open of Spain returns to its origins. 43 of the 91 editions of the tournament have been held in Madrid, which hosted the first 17 consecutive. Throughout its history, the Madrid fields have hosted large tournaments that have attracted our city, one of the most attractive and visited in Europe, illustrious as Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Seve Ballesteros, José Mari Olazábal, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo, Ernie Els, Davis Love III or Fred Couples, among others. “
In addition to the Open of Spain in 2007, the National Golf Center has hosted the Madrid Masters in 2009, tournament of the European Tour that ended with the victory of the Englishman Ross McGowan; and in 2006 he hosted the Challenge of Spain that was awarded by Frenchman Adrien Mörk to a very young Martin Kaymer.
With the confirmation of the Spanish Open, the number of qualifying races for the Race to Dubai in 2018 is maintained at 47 after the cancellation of the tournament in the Philippines, which was to be held from 15 to 18 March.
