Exhibition “DIPTYQUES” A HISTORY OF COLLABORATIONS, Singapore, 1st March – 31st March 2021

  • Singapore, 1st March – 11th April 2021, at Vacheron Constantin boutiques, ION Orchard & Marina Bay Sands
  • Seventeen timepieces from the Vacheron Constantin private Heritage collection pay tribute to the encounters that have punctuated the history of the Maison

Singapore, March 1st 2021 – Seventeen timepieces from the Vacheron Constantin private Heritage collection pay tribute to the encounters that have punctuated the history of the Maison. They retrace the saga of these incredible collaborative endeavours resulting in technical and artistic breakthroughs that have in turn given life to exceptional horological creations and instruments, thereby writing significant chapters in the history of Fine Watchmaking. The exhibition “DIPTYQUES” A HISTORY OF COLLABORATIONS will take place at the Vacheron Constantin boutiques, in ION Orchard and Marina Bay Sands, from March 1st to March 31st, 2021.

« DIPTYQUES » A HISTORY OF COLLABORATIONS, is all about personalities bound by a sense of kinship, mutually enriching visions and complementary skills. People such as Jacques-Barthélémy Vacheron, a technically gifted watchmaker who was the grandson of the Maison’s founder; and astute businessman and intrepid traveller François Constantin, who combined their talents in 1819.

This encounter, of which the bicentenary is being celebrated in 2019, gave rise to the signature of the Maison, a subtle balance between horological excellence and stylistic virtuosity, and to its motto: “Do better if possible, and that is always possible ”. Diptyques tells the story of how the ensuing encounters in turn contributed to ever greater advancements.

From Emile Plantamour to Albert Pellaton, from Raymond Moretti to Michel Butor, intellectual and manual intelligence lie at the heart of this extraordinary watchmaking epic, driven by a taste for challenges and passion. Human beings are both the architects and artisans of these large-scale projects.

They embody this visionary, enlightened thought, as well as the expertise that is its logical extension. Hired by Vacheron Constantin in 1839 as a watchmaker specialising in mechanics and construction, Georges-Auguste Leschot invented the revolutionary pantograph, designed to standardise the production of watch movements and to enable industrial-scale component manufacture. In 1932, Louis Cottier developed the world time display indicating the time zones by means of an ingenious rotating disc device.

Ferdinand Verger, a renowned jeweller with a knowledge of watchmaking, made a Fabergé egg for the tsar in 1880 comprising a Vacheron Constantin movement. His sons proved themselves worthy heirs by making watches with complications and richly decorated clocks until the 1930s.

In 2010, Anita Porchet, an expert in the art of miniature enamelling, created a masterpiece for the Maison: a watch identically reproducing the ceiling of the Opéra Garnier as painted by Marc Chagall.Vacheron Constantin thereby highlights these numerous synergies. Each is a challenge, a bold move, a wild dream come true through the genius of these watchmakers and artisans. Each is a unique brick in the Haute Horlogerie edifice to which Vacheron Constantin contributes, as a trailblazing pioneer and inveterate builder.

Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot celebrates its 40th anniversary with another Big Bang! After Place Vendome in Paris, Rue du Rhône in Geneva, 5Th Avenue in New York City, New Bond Street in London, Heritage in Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui district, now comes Chuo-dori Street in Tokyo for the brand world’s biggest Flagship Boutique.

HUBLOT LOVES TOKYO!

In 2020, Hublot is turning 40! During this anniversary year Hublot has a reason to celebrate, as on May 26, its largest flagship store, the Hublot Boutique Ginza, will open. After Place Vendome in Paris, Rue  du Rhône in Geneva, 5Th Avenue in New York City, New Bond Street in London, Heritage in Hong Kong, now comes Chuo-dori Street in Tokyo. The swiss luxury watchmaker is now present on an iconic location on Chuo-dori Street. The new boutique, also called the “Hublot tower” thanks to its 56-meter-high dynamic façade, will offer Hublot a stylish, luxurious and open space. The Hublot Boutique Ginza perfectly expresses The Art of Fusion, the brand concept focused on the blending of materials and ideas. Across three floors, customers will be immersed in the world of Hublot. Visitors will find the whole collection displayed on the ground floor, the VIP experience room on the second floor and the exhibition area on the third floor.

We are honored to celebrate the opening of our new flagship Boutique in Tokyo. In only 40 years, Hublot has seen many firsts and many successes, and today is again another milestone for our Maison. We have long had presence on the most prestigious streets in the world’s metropolises and from today in Japan too, our number one market. The “Hublot Tower” is a symbol of the fusion of modernity and tradition that we ardently pursue and uphold in all our actions.” -Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot

The 56-meter high dynamic façade is the most idiosyncratic and artistic façade of the brand’s boutiques. The laminated glass panels scattered with mirrored pieces exhibits different sights: it reflects sunlight to create a beautiful glitter during the daytime, and at nighttime a luxurious glow appears to emanate from within.

The interior of the boutique, boasting the brand’s largest retail space at 330 square meters, reflects one of the important elements of Hublot’s watchmaking—its unique use of materials. The spacious boutique expresses on three floors the contemporary style so dear to Hublot: leather chairs, ebony tables, floors of marble or carpet, and an impressive staircase with sides made of zigzag laser-cut mirrored stainless steel.

Another highlight of the boutique is the crystal chandelier installed on the vaulted ceiling reaching more than 9 metres high, which can be rarely found in Japan. The entrance hall is full of a sense of openness and welcomes customers.

Each floor of Hublot Boutique Ginza expresses the fusion of quality materials and contemporary, luxurious beauty by boldly displayed pop artworks depicting Hublot timepieces and movements on the walls, stretching from floor to ceiling.

Moët & Chandon

Driven by its pioneering spirit, Moët & Chandon has always produced a Champagne with an inimitable identity.

IDENTITY

Since 1743 when it was founded, Moët & Chandon has been passing down unequaled winemaking savoir-faire and an innovative and pioneering spirit from generation to generation.

Claude Moët, its founder, was the first person to embody these values when he made his Champagne the most sought-after in Europe. With his grandson, Jean Remy Moët, a pioneering and visionary mind, Moët & Chandon became a major international champagne brand. This saga quickly transformed the family House into a worldwide symbol of success.

The 1,190 hectares of rich limestone soil, 50% of which is classed as Grand Cru and 25% Premier Cru, make up the largest vineyard area in Champagne. Underground, the Moët & Chandon cellars are the most extensive in the region. Extending more than 28 kilometers, they form a subterranean labyrinth where the wine metamorphoses under optimum conditions of humidity and temperature.

ICON

As the House’s signature cuvée, Moët Impérial is its most comprehensive and universal expression. This Champagne is a perfectly executed blend of over 200 crus, mingling the full body of pinot noir with the suppleness of meunier and the finesse of chardonnay. The very incarnation of balance in Champagne for over 150 years.

“Undoubtedly, it is Moët & Chandon’s legendary heritage and pioneering spirit. Furthermore, this is a brand with an exceptional savoir-faire, yet it is always innovatively forward-thinking. From innovating successful new trends in bottling to creating new methods of celebration, Moët & Chandon continues to pursue new ways to share the magic of Champagne with the world.”

Stéphane Baschiera, Chairman and CEO of Moët & Chandon

SAVOIR-FAIRE

For Benoît Gouez, Cellar Master at Moët & Chandon since 2005, the champagne that he was previously ignorant of has now become a passion. In his own words: “I’m not from the wine world. I arrived here through a series of encounters, circumstances and above all, intuition! “. Benoît Gouez’s enthusiasm and expertise drove him to understand the spirit of Moët & Chandon Champagne, which he has been magnifying with boldness and elegance, vintage after vintage.

INNOVATION

Only Moët & Chandon could innovate by breaking the rules. The House rose to a new challenge by developing a luxuriously revolutionary Champagne: Moët Ice Impérial is the very first refreshing Champagne to be enjoyed over ice, in large glasses that have been specially designed to reveal all of its subtlety.

MORE THAN 270YEARS OF HISTORY

1,190HECTARES OF VINEYARDS

MORE THAN 150NUMBER OF COUNTRIES WHERE MOËT & CHANDON IS PRESENT

The ‘Ferrari at 24 Heures du Mans’ exhibition opened at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, to celebrate seventy years of Prancing Horse victories in the world’s most famous endurance race. Visitors can look back over the 36 wins recorded on the French track, with the help of some of the cars that competed in the famous races plus multimedia and interactive contents.

SEVENTY YEARS OF LE MANS TRIUMPHS ON DISPLAY AT THE FERRARI MUSEUM

The exhibition opens with the 166 MM Barchetta Touring. With a similar car, Lord Selsdon and Luigi Chinetti triumphed on 26 June 1949, on Ferrari’s debut at Le Mans. The British aristocrat and the Milanese driver transplanted to America faced a large number of British and French professionals whose cars had twice the engine capacity of the Ferrari.

Nevertheless, they won with an average speed of 132.946 kilometres per hour. Chinetti went down in history by driving for over 23 hours, handing the wheel to Lord Selsdon for just 30 minutes.

The exhibition also includes the 275 P in which Jean Guichet and Nino Vaccarella won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1964 with an astonishing average speed of 195.63 km/h, ahead of two Ferrari 330 Ps. The 275 P is part of the legendary P series, packed with very successful cars: the number refers to the unit displacement, while the letter P stands for prototype.

Then, of course, there is the 488 GTE with which Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Daniel Serra won the last edition of the French marathon, gifting Ferrari its 27th class victory, seventy years after the first triumph of the 166 MM.

Visitors can relive this achievement through the ‘Le Mans Experience’, an exciting film that combines evocative images of the race with some of the most important messages recorded by the drivers and the team during the 24 Hours.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to test themselves virtually at the wheel of the 488 GTE on the circuit of Le Mans, in the simulator set up inside the exhibition area.

Many other historical specimens are on display within the two current exhibitions in progress at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, ‘Hypercars – The evolution of uniqueness’ and ’90 years – Scuderia Ferrari, the complete story’. They are open every day from 9.30 am to 7 pm.

Paris, 16 December 2019 – Yesterday in the heart of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, an emblematic site dedicated to art and culture, Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, and Vincent Roy, Brand Director of Hublot France, Belgium & Luxembourg, welcomed over 200 guests to celebrate art, a subject close to the heart of the Swiss watchmaking house, at the end of this year. Brand ambassadors, exceptional guests invited by Hublot for the occasion, including the artists Richard Orlinski and Marc Ferrero, were able to celebrate the “Hublot Loves Art” theme that the House embodies through its watchmaking creations, which combine technique and artistic aestheticism, in an electro-atmosphere orchestrated by Dixon, Pedro Winter and Jean Tonique. The guests were swept away by the choreographer Léo Walk and his company, La Marche Bleue, and the rhythm of their organic and poetic gestures. The football world champion and brand ambassador Kylian Mbappé surprised guests when he arrived on stage, much to their delight.

HUBLOT CELEBRATES ART FOR A NIGHT IN PARIS

In the course of the exhibition devoted to Charlotte Perriand, 20th-centruy architect and visionary creator, guests had the chance of brushing shoulders with Booba, Presnel Kimpembe, Stephane Bianchi, head of LVMH watch division, Jean Roch and Anais Pedri, Carla Ginola, Habib Beye… who, at the end of the evening, could discover the work being painted live by Marc Ferrero.

In the name of Hublot, I wanted to thank the Fondation Louis Vuitton for welcoming us in this unique and incredible place. Art has always been at the heart of the brand, which wanted to spend an evening celebrating all the artists with which it has collaborated, some of whom honoured us with their presence last night.
Ricardo Guadalupe
CEO HUBLOT

We were happy to be able to bring together clients and partners to celebrate the end of the
year in a modern and uninhibited atmosphere, which, just like Hublot, combined different
artistic disciplines such as music, dance and design.
Vincent Roy

BRAND DIRECTOR HUBLOT FRANCE, BELGIUM & LUXEMBOURG

This evening was also an opportunity to once again present Hublot watches with new features launched in 2019, such as the new Big Bang Sang Bleu, the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT, and the Classic Fusion Orlinski line.
Inaugurated in 2014, the Fondation Vuitton represents the fusion between the lightness of glass architecture and a story rooted in the French culture of the 19th century. As much as in the very design of the project as in the start of work, the Fondation project shook up the principles of architecture, like Hublot which is, par excellence, the watchmaking brand which shook up the deep-rooted traditions of Watchmaking by offering the first gold watch on a rubber strap, in other words a precious metal on a less noble material.

THE FONDATION LOUIS VUITTON
Inaugurated in 2014, this space designed and created by Frank Gehry dared to use the technological achievements of the 21st century, opening the way for pioneering innovation. The ambition of the architect, Frank Gehry, was to “design, in Paris, a magnificent vessel symbolising the cultural calling of France” through 11 exhibition galleries overlooking 7,000 m2.

Venice, August 30th, 2019 – in the magical city of Venice, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrated the 15th anniversary of its partnership with Venice International Film Festival by hosting an intimate dinner in the exceptional setting of the Granai di Cipriani.

Set between sea and sky on the island of Giudecca, with stunning views across the Lagoon to Piazza San Marco, the fairytale location perfectly expresses the Celestial theme chosen by the Swiss Maison this year. Paying homage to the stars and planets that have always determined how mankind measures time, the celestial theme is also a loving tribute to the star-studded night sky above Jaeger-LeCoultre’s home in Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux.

Hosted by Catherine Rénier, Chief Executive Officer of Jaeger-LeCoultre, guests from all over the world were joined by Friends of the Maison Nicholas Hoult, Amanda Seyfried, Ni Ni and Italian actress Alessandra Mastronardi, to pay tribute to great cinema and honour the art of time.

In an ambience of great charm and refinement, they witnessed the unveiling of four beautiful new watches inspired by the stars of the night sky. A beautiful, fully gem-set interpretation of the Dazzling Rendez-Vous Moon combines the icy sparkle of diamonds with the warmth of pink gold and glowing mother of pearl; its sumptuous bracelet is set with white diamonds, linked seamlessly together to wrap around the wrist as softly as a ribbon.

Inspired by the otherworldly beauty of the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), two new interpretations of the splendid Rendez-Vous Celestial watch unite two of the Metiers Rares® that Jaeger-LeCoultre has so thoroughly mastered – gem-setting, and hand-painting. A glittering bezel set with a colour-graduated circle of baguette-cut sapphires surrounds a mother-of-pearl dial that has been hand-painted to echo the ethereal patterns of the Aurora Borealis.

In addition, Jaeger-LeCoultre has reinterpreted its magnificent Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Céleste, with a sleek new-generation case and subtle refinement of the dial. While appearing to have been simplified, the dial has in fact gained an extra dimension thanks to the use of Super-LumiNova™, which gives a heavenly glow to the hour markers and constellations in low light.

For this special celebration of the arts of cinema and fine watchmaking, Michelin-starred chef Christian Le Squer, of Restaurant Le Cinq in Paris, flew to Venice and created a special menu to complement the celestial theme and capture the beauty of the setting.

Thanks to the many values it shares with the art of filmmaking, Jaeger-LeCoultre is deeply attached to the world of cinema and, through its long-standing partnership with the Venice International Film Festival, is proud to contribute to the appreciation and advancement of the cinematic arts.
