The GV70, the X Concept, the Genesis EV Home Charger and the Genesis Wireless EV Charging System

GENESIS HONORED AT 2021 GOOD DESIGN AWARD

SEOUL, KOREA, 2022 — Genesis announced Tuesday that four of its creations had gained recognition at the 2021 Good Design Awards, further proof of the brand’s outstanding leadership in the world design scene. The GV70, the X Concept, the Genesis EV Home Charger and the Genesis Wireless EV Charging System all took away honors in the transportation category.

The Good Design Awards, presented annually by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press, have acknowledged the brand’s design competitiveness for the seventh consecutive year. Genesis also won Good Design awards in 2015 for the G90, in 2016 for the Vision G Concept, in 2017 for the G80 Sport and GV80 Concept, in 2018 for the G70 and Essentia Concept, and in 2019 for the G90 and Mint Concept. In 2020, accolades went to the G80, the GV80, and the Copper Design theme used in the Genesis infotainment system.

The GV70 is an SUV inspired by the Genesis design philosophy of “Athletic Elegance.” The Parabolic Line that begins at the top of the Quad Lamps and runs deftly along the side of the SUV creates a dramatic contrast with the muscular rear fenders. The sleek coupé-like roofline and the chrome line that slopes toward the C-pillar help give the vehicle a distinctive appearance that is both sporty and powerful.

At the rear, super-slim Quad Lamps form the Two Lines that the brand is known for. With all its functional elements built into the bumper, the SUV achieves a clean, uncluttered look. The rear also features subtle details such as a G-Matrix pattern on the bumper.

The GV70’s interior exhibits a design philosophy called “the Beauty of White Space,” which seeks to maximize passengers’ comfort and convenience.

The Genesis X Concept is an electric version of the Gran Turismo concept car. It uses Genesis’ core design element, the Two Lines, to present a vision for the future of electric vehicle design. The Two Lines design can be seen throughout the car’s interior and exterior, even the electric charging port.

The front of the Genesis X Concept is low and wide. It harmonizes with the Crest Grille, the Two-Line headlights and the double-layered bumpers. The Two-Line Quad Lamps exemplify the best of the brand’s leading design and technology.

The side follows the traditional Gran Turismo model design with a long hood and a short rear, and the Two-Line lamps leading to the headlamps and taillights are impressive. The Parabolic Line that runs along the side creates a dynamic, elegant impression with the voluminous fender. The oval wedge at the rear of the car exudes sleek simplicity.

The interior features a cockpit-inspired design, which means the operating systems and displays surround the driver. The Beauty of White Space is evident here as well.

The Genesis X Concept also demonstrates sustainable luxury by incorporating upcycled leather scraps from the vehicle production process into the seat belts, steering wheel and airbag covers.

“We are greatly honored to be recognized by the Good Design Awards for these very important vehicles and innovations,” said SangYup Lee, executive vice president and head of the Genesis Global Design Center. “This honor speaks to the outstanding work of our design dream team, who put their passion and their hearts into this project, and also our R&D center engineers. They made this achievement together. It also reflects the competitiveness of the Genesis Two Lines design identity in the global marketplace.”

Meanwhile, the Genesis Wireless EV Charging System and the Genesis EV Home Charger were recognized for their human-centered design. The Genesis Wireless EV Charging System offers a seamless experience with an app that provides real-time information about charging status and more. The Genesis EV Home Charger reflects the brand’s signature look while delivering unparalleled convenience. By adding a reel so the cable can be rewound smoothly, Genesis has made the device safer than others on the market. Functional design features such as the canopy, the adjustable stand to suit drivers of different heights, and RFID authentication make it stand out further.

Since their inception in 1950, the Good Design Awards have recognized excellence in design throughout the world. Their aim is to raise awareness about contemporary design — to honor innovators in design and manufacturing, as well as their products.

Watches and Wonders Geneva | Nearly 40 watchmaking Maisons to exhibit at the physical Salon in 2022

After two entirely digital editions, the key watchmaking industry event is confirmed to take place in Geneva both in a physical format – in the halls of Palexpo – and digitally, via the watchandwonders.com platform. Nearly 40 watch and jewellery brands will gather at this watchmaking summit for the first time over 7 days – from 30 March to 5 April 2022.

The next Watches and Wonders Geneva, which is eagerly awaited after two years of being entirely online, is already shaping up for 2022. More than a trade show, this watchmaking summit will bring together the main industry players, with the arrival of new brands such as Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith from the LVMH Group, Grand Seiko, Oris and the jeweller Van Cleef & Arpels who is making its return to the Salon.

Reputed brands such as Chanel, Chopard, Patek Philippe, Rolex and Tudor will also be exhibiting for the first time in Geneva. Not to mention other major Maisons, such as Cartier, Hermès, IWC Schaffhausen, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Ulysse Nardin and Vacheron Constantin, who have been regulars for many years.

All these players will vibrate to the rhythm of a thrilling watch-industry week and will be showcased in one single setting at Palexpo. The Carré des Horlogers will welcome fifteen independent designer-craftsmen and women at the centre of the exhibition.

A hybrid, flexible concept.

After proving its agility over the last two events, Watches and Wonders Geneva is moving to a hybrid format so that visitors can above all have a face-to-face experience but also participate on line, depending on the changing context of the pandemic.

Everything has been thought through and organised to ensure that the product presentations, new product launches, keynotes, panel discussions and conferences be followed in Geneva by visitors onsite, but also, for those who are unable to travel, remotely, via the www.watchesandwonders.com platform. All the content will be available online, live or in replay.

But nothing can ever replace in-person experience. Industry players have clearly stated their desire to get together around the products. They want their guests to be able to see and touch the exceptional pieces, to discuss, debate and interact on site.

Watches and Wonders Geneva 2022 promises once again to be a great success but also a wonderful reunion. Whether in Geneva or elsewhere in the world, make a date for this leading watchmaking summit, from 30 March to 5 April 2022!

Shanghai, 16 April 2019ICONA Design Group unveiled today the world premiere of an innovative transportation vehicle co-branded with JD (NASDAQ: JD), one of China’s largest e-commerce companies.

This project marks a milestone in the growth of the young Italian design company which has attended all Auto Shanghai shows since its foundation in 2010.
ICONA makes its appearance at Auto Shanghai with three creations,

ICONA AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

ICONA AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

• The world premiere of ICONA & JinDong Co-Branding Project, a completely new autonomous logistics vehicle dedicated to the transportation of goods.
• The Space-pod, a small autonomous robot designed by ICONA for the Chinese leading e-commerce platform for service company Meituan (HKG:3690) which will make its Chinese premiere. The Space-pod was first shown at CES in Las Vegas in January 2019.
• The ICONA Nucleus, shown for the first time in the most advanced and fastest-growing city in the world, will surprise and inspire experts and enthusiasts as has already happened in Geneva, Beijing, Los Angeles, Paris and Monaco.

WORLD PREMIERE
ICONA AND JD UNVEIL A CO-BRANDING PROJECT AT AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

Teresio Gigi Gaudio, Chairman & CEO of ICONA Design, says: « ICONA partners with innovative, fast-growing companies which reshape our daily experience of consumer goods delivery and mobility. The ICONA Nucleus, the Space-pod for Meituan and the third vehicle for JD are three faces of the same revolutionary approach to urban movement and transportation of people and goods. »

ICONA AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

ICONA AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

JinDong (JD) Autonomous Logistic vehicle is a running prototype. Samuel Chuffart, VP & Global Design Director of ICONA, says: “This vehicle, designed by ICONA and realized with Chery and other partners for JD, is intended to operate within JD’s premises and cover the distance from JD warehouses to JD delivery stations and JD terminal delivery robots. The design is approachable, not intimidating. Its light communication signature faces outwards rather than forwards: the intention is to provide an immediate and intuitive connection for the user and for people adjacent to the vehicle. The streamlined surfaces and a solid double-face silhouette underline the full versatility of this vehicle, so simple in its look and so rich in its performance.”

In the future a vehicle like this could be used on campuses, in industrial parks and other controlled private and public areas, and potentially also (after tomorrow) on public roads, starting with those roads with dedicated lanes.
Since Geneva 2018, ICONA’s flagship project has been the highly acclaimed Icona Nucleus. “It is a concept vehicle” comments Chuffart, “that embodies ICONA’s vision for the mobility of after tomorrow, anticipating the redefinition of automobile architecture with full autonomous driving technology on an electric hydrogen powered platform.”
ICONA Nucleus has been awarded twice by the German Council for Design (Passenger Cars and Universal Design) and has inspired many other futuristic concept vehicles already presented to the market.

ICONA AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

ICONA AUTO SHANGHAI 2019

With these two other autonomous driving vehicles, ICONA strengthens its ties to future mobility, looking beyond traditional people transportation and opening its design research to new dimensions. « Our three studios in Turin, Shanghai and Los Angeles » says Gaudio, « are pushing to the limits the boundaries of innovation, with tangible benefits for all our clients. »
