Based on the D50 Open and inheriting thewaterlines of its predecessor the D46, European Boat of the Year winner, it offers impressivesailing performance in a perfect combination of sportiness and efficient cruising powered by hidden outboard engines in 4-unit 350hp or 400hp or 2-engine 600hpcombinations.

The new flagship of the Barcelona brand stands out for its stylised superstructure, whichfurther highlights its avant-garde architecture, offering its occupants an encloseddrivingarea for greater comfort and allowing its central part to open up thanks to the retractable canvas roof.

Its deck layout offers impressive sunbathing areas for relaxation, outdoor galley andgenerous deck spaces, without renouncing a very spacious and customisable interior layout with 2 or 3 cabins, one of which can be adapted for a crew cabin or servicecabin. E1 Series and PIF announce partnership to create world’s first electric powerboat championship

Electric Sea Racing Limited (‘E1 Series’) and Public Investment Fund (PIF) have entered into a partnership that will see PIF support in creating the world’s first electric powerboat racing championship.

The news was revealed today during a virtual launch event, where E1 Series organisers also unveiled the new design of the electric RaceBird powerboat ahead of World Oceans Day on June 8.

The partnership represents a significant step forward in the long-term development of the championship, providing a strong foundation on which to build from and enabling the series to further accelerate preparations for the inaugural season, scheduled to take place in early 2023 – with Saudi Arabia to be one of the considered race locations.

As a major contributor to the global economy and partner of choice for innovative companies and investors, PIF’s investment in E1 is in line with its 2021-2025 strategy announced earlier this year, which focuses on 13 key strategic sectors, including sports and entertainment, and renewable energy. This includes major investments in renewable energy companies, such as ACWA Power and the Sudair Solar Energy project, as well as in the development of electric vehicles through its investment in Lucid Motors.

Series creators Alejandro Agag, Chairman of E1, and Rodi Basso, CEO of E1, were both joined live in the studio by the President of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM) Raffaele Chiulli, as well as SeaBird Technologies Founder Sophi Horne, and Founder & CEO of Victory Marine Brunello Acampora to present the RaceBird powerboat.

The vessel is a completely new design and was co-created by Horne and Acampora following an extensive validation process. The RaceBird is inspired by nature and birds flying low over the water and features an outboard motor, enclosed safety canopy and hydrofoil technology.

Using innovative hydrofoil technology, the electric RaceBird powerboats will rise high above the water’s surface, allowing for minimum drag and maximum energy efficiency. Being lifted above the waves will not only improve performance, but it will also promote close and competitive racing with a reduced wake when following an opponent.

The RaceBird is specially designed for foil-to-foil racing and is capable of reaching speeds up to 50 knots (93 km/h or 58 mph), with pilots showcasing their skills using tight and technical circuits located close to shore in the heart of urban areas.

With the design now validated, the RaceBird has entered into the production phase with the expert engineers at Victory Marine concentrating their efforts and resource over the coming months on manufacturing a full fleet of race-ready electric powerboats.

Released ahead of World Oceans Day, the RaceBird acts as a symbol of the future ambitions of the E1 Series, to revolutionise marine mobility and reduce the pressures being placed on fragile underwater ecosystems across the world.

The next major milestone in the RaceBird development is in September when the covers come off the first full-scale model at the Monaco Yacht Show, before the start of prototype testing which is set to get underway later this year.

In 2019, Master´s students of industrial design at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design (Simeon Ortmüller, Tobias Gehrke, Vincent Steinhart-Besser, Yigang Shen and Jingyue Chen) developed design concepts for a new form of mobility on water and gave the CAPTN project its first visible identity.

The students have dealt with the question: What is the future of public transport on the Kiel Fjord? Kiel grows and urban mobility needs attractive offers to make it easier to avoid the car and to achieve ambitious climate targets.

The fact that ferry traffic in this context connects the west and east bank over a longer period of time during the day and at a tighter frequency and that the connections to bus traffic play a central role is obvious.

The two different concepts of the VAIARO project with the names “Floating Platform” and “Passage” are characterized by pragmatism and radicalism in equal measure. For this purpose, leitmotifs for intelligent mobility and a new landmark in Kiel were developed. The project was designed as a cooperation from the beginning: Partners from Kiel University and from the University of Applied Sciences are working in their respective fields on the realization of an autonomous ferry.

The parties involved were thus present at regular intervals for presentations, in the course of which the drafts and their own position were repeatedly reviewed and adjusted. In this way, indications of the desired qualities could be obtained. What is meant to be in the drafts is basically quite simple to grasp: When I come to Kiel, I absolutely have to take the new ferry!

Compared to the classic version, the new Open is distinguished by a steel Roll-Bar, instead of the T-Top, consisting of a suspended wing that acts as a link between the two uprights. The result is a design with sporty and streamlined lines, which gives an idea of ​​lightness. The search for lightness is evident even in the small details, such as the choice not to place the antennas above the aileron, but to ‘raise them’ so as to make them an integral element in the structure design


A retractable awning guarantees shade both on the driving seat and in the front cockpit, equipped with a large dining area, illuminated at night by the courtesy lights on the Roll-Bar, which create suggestive plays of light. Three more are added to this outdoor area: from the large sundeck at the bow, with a sofa in front of the island sundeck of the beach lounge, to the stern beach where the modular platform ensures a variety of uses.

As with all models in the Evo Yachts range, the beach lounge is the most characteristic area of ​​the boat, thanks to the “XTension” side panels, the shipyard’s trademark, which, opening laterally in a few seconds, increase the space available to the 40 %. The width of the central sundeck is such as to allow a 2.85 meter tender to be housed under it.

The layout of Evo R6 Open is an invitation to conviviality and relaxation in an immersive experience with the surrounding environment. Although it is a pure open, however, all the comforts and the ample heights below deck are guaranteed: in addition to the dinette there is space for the owner’s cabin, the two doubles for guests aft, and 2 bathrooms.

With dual engine options, 2 x Volvo Penta IPS 800 or 950, Evo R6 Open ensures a maximum speed of 35 knots and 280 miles of range.

It was designed with cooler climates in mind; as such, a series of sliding doors and foldable bulwarks can transform the aft beach club, dining area, and open galley from an open-air oasis to a warm, cozy retreat in seconds. Four cabins are spread across the lower deck, including a spacious master suite with a circular bed from Bentley home and an onyx bath with custom.

The first edition of the GTM 90 is being developed in collaboration with leading VIP-car tuner Klassen with interior decor that mirrors the design of exclusive Klassen vans with different leathers, rich wood panelling and elegant LED courtesy lights. Klassen will also be responsible for all the exterior detailing, including leather supply, stitching and other special automotive design features.
