Better Sleep, Better Health: New One UI 5 Watch Shows First Look at Upcoming Galaxy Watch

With enhanced sleep features, One UI 5 Watch sets the standard for holistic wellness via a healthy night’s rest

SEOUL, Korea – May 4, 2023 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled One UI 5 Watch1, to be available for Galaxy Watch devices later this year. The new software is designed to bring an even more personalized and intuitive health experience and includes enhancements that support better sleep — an often neglected yet essential part of overall wellness — as well as various fitness and safety features.

“Samsung is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive health experience and empowering users to reach their wellness goals. Now more than ever, we believe this starts with getting a good night’s sleep,” said Hon Pak, Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team, MX Business at Samsung Electronics. “The new One UI 5 Watch continues our ongoing commitment to help people improve the quality of their sleep, so they can start each day fully recharged and ready for the day.”

Better Sleep: Essential to Better Health
Samsung has focused its efforts on three key elements for better sleep: understanding personal sleep patterns, building healthy habits, and establishing a sleep-friendly environment. One UI 5 Watch delivers on these elements with an even more complete sleep experience.

The new Sleep Insights UI prominently displays the user’s sleep score to provide a clearer snapshot of the prior night’s rest, followed by related metrics like sleep phases, snoring hours and blood oxygen levels. In addition, Sleep Coaching — tailored around eight different sleep types2 — also becomes fully accessible directly on Galaxy Watch as well as a paired phone, making for a more convenient and motivational way for users to track their habits anytime, anywhere.

Creating a comfortable environment can make all the difference in sleep quality, and even small distractions can have outsized impacts. That’s why Samsung has made it easier to connect Galaxy Watch to a wide range of devices. Once the user’s Galaxy Watch detects that they have fallen asleep, SmartThings lets the user switch off their connected devices to create a more conducive environment for rest. Sleep Mode swiftly mutes notifications and dims the user’s phone and watch screens, and One UI 5 Watch builds on this feature by now utilizing an infrared sensor rather than a green LED light to further minimize distractions.

A Smarter Fitness Partner
Personalized Heart Rate Zone has been added to Galaxy Watch’s various tailored running tools — including real-time running analysis and a customized interval training program. This new feature analyzes individual physical capabilities3 and sets five optimal workout intensity levels (warm-up, fat burn, cardio, hard-training and max. effort). This enables users to set their own goals based on their ability, from burning fat to high-impact cardio.

Outdoor activity enthusiasts with Galaxy Watch Pro can look forward to additional benefits, starting with an expanded Route Workout — which now supports running and walking alongside previously available hiking and cycling route options. Galaxy Watch Pro users can also search and access the GPX File Database directly via Samsung Health app, and receive recommendations on new routes based on inputs like location, time, rating or popularity4.

Safety First, Always On
Safety is a must when it comes to health and wellness, and One UI 5 Watch also offers improved tools for greater peace of mind. Updates to the SOS feature enable direct communication to an emergency service number to relay information on the wearer’s location5, and also allow immediate access to the wearer’s Medical Information once an SOS is activated. In addition, Fall Detection is now activated by default for users of advanced ages6 to help lower the risk of emergencies. These are just some of the examples of Samsung’s ongoing efforts to enhance user safety.

One UI 5 Watch will be available first on the upcoming Galaxy Watch series later this year with further updates to be announced soon. Galaxy Watch5 and Galaxy Watch4 series users in the U.S. and Korea can register for the beta program starting in May via Samsung Members app.

Connected watch of TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 and Porsche Edition

TAG Heuer and Porsche have launched the new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 – Porsche Edition, a luxury connected timepiece inspired by the design of the all-electric Porsche Taycan, with Wear OS exclusive features for Porsche owners where information from cars is displayed directly on the watch face.

The watch follows the launch of the TAG Heuer x Porsche Carrera Chronograph, which celebrated the two companies’ rich history of motor racing heritage and the launch of their global partnership in 2021. Both the physical watch and the software have design features used in the all-electric Taycan, which evokes the car’s exterior. The watch face was inspired by printed circuit boards and racing circuits, offering an animated visual effect which connects Porsche cars and TAG Heuer watches with a feeling of technology and speed.

Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG, says, ‘This product highlights the natural synergy of our two brands: both fearless and disruptive in their respective fields, and both devoted to delivering unparalleled excellence to our customers. ‘Our brands have led the way in embracing new technologies: just as TAG Heuer has led the luxury watch world in terms of embracing smartwatch technology, so Porsche’s electric cars innovate in their field.’

Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer says, ‘For both TAG Heuer and Porsche, the thrill of driving is part of our heritage, and this watch celebrates the fearless spirit of both Maisons – as well as highlighting the sustainable innovation of the Taycan. This watch evokes many of the passions that we share – high performance, technological innovation and our love for unique and unmatched products.’

Car-related design and a range of exclusive apps

The watch’s design is filled with numerous features which evoke the frozen blue lacquered Porsche Taycan, with a large 45mm case in black titanium, highlighted with details in the distinctive metallic shade seen on the car. The case is sandblasted black titanium, giving the watch a light, sporty feel and the black ceramic polished bezel has a dedicated scale going from zero to 400, referencing a Porsche car’s speed, which can be used to read functions relating to the car or to display metrics like heart rate.

The ceramic bezel of the watch gives it the feel of a traditional high-end timepiece. The crown has a large diameter, and stands out from the watch, so there’s lots of room for a finger to access the crown, making it easy to access apps on the go.

The pushers have a mechanical feel, highlighting TAG Heuer’s 162 years of heritage in making high-end mechanical watches. Running a customised version of Google’s Wear OS system, the watch offers a range of exclusive timers and sport and wellness apps which highlight TAG Heuer’s expertise in sports timing, including motorsports.

Connection to own Porsche car

Owners of specific Porsche models* will be able to connect their watch to their car, and see information displayed in ‘complications’ on the watch face. There are four complications available at launch.

The first shows how much is left in the car’s battery and works with both electric Porsche models and hybrids.  The second shows off ‘car autonomy’ information, displaying how many kilometers remain before the car’s battery or gas runs out. The third is a shortcut to the Wear OS My Porsche app which enables users to control their vehicle heating and air conditioning. The last complication shows the total mileage driven in the car. To activate these features, users need to have Porsche ID, Porsche Connect Subscription and the My Porsche app on the watch and phone.

In February 2021 Porsche and TAG Heuer announced to join forces in a global brand partnership. Within the framework of the holistic and long-term alliance, the brands have intended to jointly approach both sports competitions and the development of products. The first step on product side was the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph, launched at this time.

Info

Please note that the range of features of the app may differ depending on the model, model year and country availability.

* Compatible models include the Panamera (G2 II models from 2022 onwards), Panamera (G2), 911 (992 models from 2022 onwards), 911 (911 II), Cayenne (E3 models from 2022 onwards), Cayenne (E2 II), 718, Macan II/III, Macan, Taycan.

TAG HEUER DIVES DEEPER INTO WEB3

Shortly after entering the cryptocurrency space in the United States, TAG Heuer now introduces a unique way for customers to showcase their NFT collection on their TAG Heuer Connected watch.

La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland – June 15th, 2022: Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer unveils a truly unique, exclusive experience for its TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 smartwatch, which allows users to display NFT (non-fungible token) artworks on their watch by connecting their crypto wallet to guarantee their authenticity.

NFT (Non-fungible token) is a term used to describe a unique digital asset whose ownership is tracked on a blockchain, such as Ethereum. Assets that can be represented as NFTs range from digital collectibles and art pieces, items that exist within virtual worlds, to claims on physical assets such as clothing items or real estate. In the coming years, NFTs will be used to unlock entirely new use cases that are only made possible by blockchain and crypto.

Today TAG Heuer introduces a new way to bring these valuable and highly collectible artworks into the real world: for the first time they can be worn on the wrist with a proof of ownership via the Lens watch face. And to develop this new feature TAG Heuer consulted and engaged with key members of the BAYC, Cryptopunk, CLONE-X or World of Women communities, ensuring the Lens functionalities and experience

The brand has been a pioneer in the luxury smartwatch segment since 2015, with the TAG Heuer Connected, and the new experience is part of TAG Heuer’s expanding digital ecosystem of apps and watch faces, designed by a team of in-house developers and bearing TAG Heuer’s trademark design signatures.

Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer says, ‘I have had a deep interest in the NFT space, and this feature fits with TAG Heuer’s tradition of being avant-garde and innovative in technology. Our watch enables users to display their digital identity with the ability to prove their NFT

ownership. Watch this space, as TAG Heuer will have more stories to tell about Web3.’

The TAG Heuer Connected, a perfect match for NFTs

The TAG Heuer Connected has established itself as a world leader in luxury smartwatches, and the new experience cements the Swiss watch brand’s reputation for innovation, with NFTs delivered to the watch alongside TAG Heuer’s collection of digital and analog-inspired watch faces.

Users can transfer multiple NFTs to the new Lens watch face via a paired smartphone. This watch face has three unique ways to display time while showcasing their favorite pictures or NFT artworks including a new conceptual design with a triangle and a circle representing hours and minutes.

TAG Heuer has partnered with Ledger to enable its users to securely access and display their NFTs on the TAG Heuer Connected; the new functionality also supports Metamask. Users can then resize the image, so it works well on the watch’s round screen.

The new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 offers the perfect platform to view these artworks whose ownership is secured by the blockchain technology, with an industry-leading screen built to be clear even in strong sunlight, thanks to a high contrast ratio. High-fidelity color reproduction means that NFTs shine out of the screen the way they were meant to be seen.

A new expression of digital identity

TAG Heuer introduces a graphic proof of ownership on the watch face. NFTs are displayed in a hexagon with a cloud of particles gravitating around the image.

Some NFTs are still images, and some are animated GIFs. TAG Heuer’s exclusive watch face will support these formats in crisp detail on screen, with animations looping infinitely. In a world where one’s digital identity is becoming as important as one’s physical one, TAG Heuer creates a bridge and connection between these different versions of oneself.

As with all of TAG Heuer Connected models, the Calibre E4 offers watch faces based on TAG Heuer’s 160 years of rich watchmaking heritage. The new Lens watch face will work perfectly across both models of the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 watch 42 mm and 45 mm and was designed to display customers’ favorite possessions. These images can come from their personal photo library, their NFT collection or a range of TAG Heuer curated images.

The new experience will be available as a free update to all owners of Calibre E4 watches via Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store.

TAG Heuer’s new NFT display feature comes just weeks after the avant-garde brand introduced crypto payments on its U.S. website with BitPay, enabling customers to purchase TAG Heuer watches and accessories with various digital currencies such as Bitcoin or Ethereum. The company known for its agile tech mindset is just getting started in the Web3 arena.

Assets that can be represented as NFTs range from digital collectibles and art pieces, items that exist within virtual worlds, to claims on physical assets such as clothing items or real estate. HUBLOT at the Pinnacle of Sailing

Two days before the start of the 83rd Bol d’Or Mirabaud, Hublot invited its new ambassador, Alan Roura, for a quick stopover in Geneva. It was an opportunity to speak to him about the activities he organises to pass his love of sailing on to the next generations.

As the Official Timekeeper of the Bol d’Or Mirabaud since 2013, Hublot has infused its limited edition Classic Fusion Chronograph Bol d’Or Mirabaud with everything that makes the Bol d’Or Mirabaud so iconic – the blue waters often rendered too calm by a lack of wind, and the wild, tumultuous waves for which this highly technical race is so famous.
