PLANO, Texas 2023) – With its head-turning sports car style and powerful rear-wheel drive performance, the Toyota GR Supra has captured the fun-to-drive spirit of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing. Since it was relaunched in 2019, the fifth generation (MkV) model has earned a reputation for offering balanced handling and punch-above-its-weight performance, all while honoring its legendary place in Toyota’s sports car lineage. For 2024, the GR Supra lineup keeps the celebration roaring.

For starters, a 45^th Anniversary Edition adds a GR Supra model to the lineup with a nod to the past. Paying tribute to the Supra’s place in pop culture, it’s available in a choice of fiery orange Mikan Blast or icy white Absolute Zero and equipped with an elevated gloss black rear spoiler, standard. Built on the 3.0 Premium grade, it wears 19-inch matte black wheels, features a black Supra side decal, and is available in a choice of Manual or Automatic Transmission (MT or AT), so it’s sure to turns heads while delivering smooth, satisfying shifts around the corners.

The 45^th Anniversary Edition joins the already performance-packed lineup of 2.0- or 3.0-liter engine equipped GR Supra models. Drivers can choose from the GR Supra 3.0 or 3.0 Premium grades, powered by an inline six-cylinder turbocharged engine that outputs 382-hp and 368 lb.-ft. of torque or the GR Supra 2.0 grade with an inline 4-cylinder engine that outputs 255-hp and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0 model does shave a bit of weight off the scales, with a curb weight that is about 200 pounds less than the 3.0 grades.

The GR Supra also continues offering performance-focused standard equipment across all models, like a double joint-type MacPherson front and multi-link independent rear suspension, sport calibrated electronic power steering, and dual rear exhaust outlets. All models wear high performance Michelin Super Sport tires for maximum grip of the Supra’s Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) platform.

On the inside, drivers experience a refined cockpit. The 3.0 Premium brings a luxury feel with power adjustable, leather trimmed seats, and for 2024 adds a new Hazelnut seat and interior color with black also being available. Black soft touch Alcantara and leather-trimmed sport seats are standard on the 2.0 grade and 3.0 base grade models, with manual adjustment on the 2.0 and power adjustment on the 3.0. All GR Supra models come with standard knee cushions for support while hugging the curves.

Audio options add a sonic dimension to a drive in the GR Supra with a 12-speaker, 500-watt JBL® Hi-Fi system standard on the 3.0 Premium. Both the 2.0 and 3.0 models can be upgraded to the 12-speaker JBL system when the available Safety & Technology Plus JBL Package is equipped. For 2024, all GR Supra 2.0 and 3.0 models equipped with the Safety & Technology package will come with Supra Connect Extended Services¹. Additionally, Supra Connect Extended Services have been activated for eligible 2020-23 GR Supra models equipped with connected services hardware.

Exterior colors offered across the 2.0 and 3.0 model lineup include Stratosphere (blue), Absolute Zero (white), Nocturnal (black), and Renaissance Red. Mikan Blast is exclusive to the 45^th Anniversary Edition. The 2024 GR Supra is expected to arrive on dealer lots this fall with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Pricing (MSRP) of $45,540 plus Dealer Processing and Handling (DPH) of $1,095 for the GR Supra 2.0 model. The GR Supra 3.0 model starts at an MSRP of $54,500 plus DPH (AT or MT equipped).

Driving the GR Supra

The GR Supra’s balance of ride quality, powerful acceleration, and agile handling offers an experience that excites the senses from the moment drivers push the start button. Equipped with a dual-branch exhaust manifold, with six ports instead of two, a deep growl rumbles to life at ignition. The exhaust note is just one part of the equation, as the engine is also designed to manage heat and airflow to maximize its 10.2:1 compression ratio while preventing abnormal combustion due to high boost.

With an engine that produces high torque at high rpm, the GR Supra retains the eagerness to rev with turbine-like smoothness, delivering a manufacturer estimated 0-60 time of 3.9 seconds in the 8-speed AT and 4.2 seconds in the MT 3.0 models and 5.0 seconds in the 2.0 grade. Even with all that power, GR Supra 3.0 grades equipped with the AT will achieve a manufacturer estimated 26 mpg combined (25 city/31 highway/27 combined), with the Supra 2.0 achieving a manufacturer estimated 27 mpg combined. Fuel economy is due in part to standard start/stop technology, which shuts the engine off while the car is at rest.

On all grades, drivers can select from Normal, Sport, and Individual modes that adjust throttle response, suspension damping, and power steering settings. Additionally, the 3.0 grade and up include an Adaptative Variable Suspension (AVS) with sensors that constantly detect changes in the driving operations and road surface conditions, and solenoid valves finely control the damping force of the shock absorbers. In 3.0 grade and higher, NORMAL mode provides a high-level balance between vehicle stability and supple ride comfort, enabling sports driving without sacrificing comfort. SPORT mode realizes a reassuring and flat vehicle posture with suppressed roll and driving with a more agile steering response.

All 2024 GR Supra 3.0 models, both AT and MT versions, also benefit from suspension tuning and shock absorbers set for a balance between body roll and ride comfort. The mechanical components in the electric power steering and the system’s operating parameters are also tuned for agile handling. All 3.0 models come with an active rear sport differential standard.

45^th Anniversary Edition

It’s fitting that the fourth year of the fifth-generation model celebrates 45 years of the Supra name. Built on the 3.0 Premium Grade and equipped with the B-58 twin scroll turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine, th 45^th Anniversary Edition GR Supra’s low-slung, condensed extreme design is complemented by a large, manually adjustable rear spoiler. The spoiler rises about three inches above the rear decklid and has an adjustment screw that allows drivers to change its angle and influence the amount of downforce being applied to rear wheels.

The 45^th Anniversary Edition GR Supra will be available in either Mikan Blast [which means “orange” in Japanese and is pronounced as Mee-kahn] or Absolute Zero. On the outside, the special edition model also features matte-black finished 19-inch aluminum wheels and black painted, opposite mounted brake calipers that wear a GR logo up front. A black side panel graphic with a cutout Supra logo sweeps upward along the side, accentuating the vehicle’s contours. Altogether, the special edition brings a touch of nostalgia to the 2024 Supra lineup with a look reminiscent of the MkIV model of big screen fame.

Under the hood, the engine is flanked by exclusive 45th Anniversary Edition orange strut tower braces that bear the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing logo. It will be available with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The cabin features heated, black leather-trimmed sport seats, black leather-wrapped tilt/telescopic 3-spoke steering wheel, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker JBL® HiFi Surround system, and full-color Head-Up Display (HUD).

The 45^th Anniversary Edition also comes with Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (AT models), Cruise Control (MT models), Blind Spot Monitor (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Parking Sensors with Emergency Braking Function, standard.

Hands On with GR Supra Manual

In 2023, a welcome addition to Mk V Supra was the option of a Manual Transmission. Developed by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Engineers in Japan in cooperation with Toyota Motor Europe, and German transmission supplier ZF, the MT is an option on the Supra 3.0 and 3.0 Premium models.

The manual gearbox was built with components designed specifically to suit the power and torque characteristics of the GR Supra’s 3.0-liter 382-hp straight-six engine. The engineering team combined an existing transmission housing and gear set, developed a new shift lever, and removed elements that were not required, such as the acoustic package, which reduced weight, bringing the manual equipped Supra in at 3,389 pounds. At the heart of the transmission is a newly engineered large diameter clutch with a reinforced diaphragm spring. With a larger friction area and a stronger spring, this new component has the high-performance capability appropriate for use with the GR Supra’s high-torque engine.

Porsche Mission X: a vivid dream of incredible performance

At Porsche, innovative concept cars have always laid the groundwork for the future. The sports car manufacturer is continuing this tradition with this latest concept study. Mission X is a spectacular, conceptual reinterpretation of a hypercar, with Le Mans-style doors that open upwards to the front and an ultra high-performance, efficient electric powertrain.Atlanta. Celebrating 75 years of Porsche sports cars, the storied marque today revealed its newest concept car: the Mission X. As a design study, not offered for sale, with production to be decided in due time, the Mission X is a glimpse into what the sports car of the future could look like.

“The Porsche Mission X is a technology beacon for the sports car of the future. It picks up the torch of iconic sports cars of decades past: like the 959, the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder before it, the Mission X provides critical impetus for the evolutionary development of future vehicle concepts,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. “Daring to dream and dream cars are two sides of the same coin for us: Porsche has only remained Porsche by constantly changing.”

Michael Mauer, Head of Style Porsche, says: “The Mission X is a clear commitment to the core of the brand. The continuing, enhanced expression of our brand and product identity is an important compass for us to navigate the development of our series-production models. The concept study symbolizes a symbiosis of unmistakable motorsport DNA with a luxurious overall impression.”

Measuring approximately 177 inches long and 78.7 inches wide, the Mission X concept study is a relatively compact hypercar. With a wheelbase of 107.4 inches, it has the dimensions of the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder. For aerodynamic purposes, the concept car has staggered tires, with 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.

Design: classic brand elements reinterpreted
The Mission X represents the pinnacle of performance and modern luxury. At the same time, its sculpted form and muscular lines demonstrate that hypercars do not have to look aggressive. The low-slung body, which is less than 47.2 inches tall, is finished in Rocket Metallic – an elegant paint color specially designed for the concept study. Design elements in a carbon fiber are found below the beltline. These components have a satin finish and are therefore slightly colored, but their material structure remains recognizable.

The wheels of the concept study feature elaborate details: the rear axle is fitted with almost transparent aero blades, which are designed like turbines for better cooling of the brakes.

A lightweight glass dome with an exoskeleton made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) extends over both occupants. Le Mans-style doors are attached to the A-pillar and the roof; they open forwards and upwards. This type of door was previously used on the legendary Porsche 917 racing car. Another eye-catcher is the light signature: for the Mission X, the designers have reinterpreted the characteristic Porsche four-point graphic. The vertical base form of the headlights was inspired by historic racing cars such as the Porsche 906 and 908 and drawn well down towards the road. A high-tech support structure frames the LED light modules and presents the exposed narrow elements of daytime running lights and indicators. When activated, the light opens up like an eye blinking open. Fully illuminated, the headlights make a confident statement.

A full-length light unit that appears to float characterizes the rear of the Mission X. Transparent, illuminated Porsche lettering is a standout feature. The sculptural rear light emerges, as if suspended in the air, from a support structure and extends across the entire width of the vehicle in four segments. While charging, the ‘E’ of the Porsche lettering pulses.

One special detail is the modernized Porsche crest, which makes its debut on the Mission X. Brushed precious metal, a three-dimensional honeycomb structure, a refreshed heraldic beast and more subtle gold color – on close inspection, these are the differences between the modernized Porsche crest and its immediate forerunner. With its cleaner and more state-of-the-art execution, the refined crest communicates the character of Porsche. On the Mission X, it is found on the hood and steering wheel as well as in monochrome form on the wheel centers.

The driver focus can be seen in the asymmetry of the interior and its color concept. The two seats are colored differently. Apart from the leather pads in Andalusia Brown, the driver’s seat is Kalahari Grey and forms a single unit of color with the center console and the dashboard. The passenger seat is in the contrasting Andalusia Brown shade. Beyond the CFRP seat shells, and their six-point seatbelts integrated into the monocoque, further motorsport parallels include the open-top steering wheel, which has mode switches and shift paddles. There are multiple cameras on board. Recording starts as soon as the driver presses the Record button (REC) on the multi-purpose controller.

Another highlight is found on the passenger side, where there is a bayonet system embedded in the instrument panel to which a stopwatch module can be attached. For the Mission X, Porsche Design has created a special stopwatch module with an analogue and digital display. The clocks are designed for both racetrack and rally use and can display the lap times or vital data of the driver, among other information.

Technical vision: top marks in power-to-weight ratio, downforce and charging performance
Porsche exemplifies e-performance yet is also a pioneer in sustainable mobility. The concept study meets both objectives in full measure. If the Mission X goes into series production, then it should:
• be the fastest road-legal vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife
• have a power-to-weight ratio of roughly one hp per 2.2 lbs.
• achieve downforce values that are well in excess of those delivered by the current 911 GT3 RS
• offer significantly improved charging performance with its 900-volt system architecture and charge roughly twice as quickly as the current Porsche frontrunner, the Taycan Turbo S

The battery is installed centrally behind the vehicle’s seats. This ‘e-core layout’ centers the mass in the car. As with a conventionally powered mid-engine car, this provides the basis for excellent agility.

Predecessors: innovative super sports cars from Porsche
The fastest series-production car of its time; first series-production Porsche to be made of carbon fiber, and the first road-legal vehicle to beat the seven-minute mark on the Nürburgring Nordschleife – the Porsche 959 (1985), Carrera GT (2003) and 918 Spyder (2013) were milestone models in the world of super sports cars. And that makes them the conceptual forerunners of the Mission X.

In 1985, the Porsche 959 made its debut as a technology platform. Its 443 hp six-cylinder twin-turbo boxer engine, combined with an aerodynamically optimized body, propelled the super sports car to a top speed of 197 mph – then the world record for a series-production sports car.
With its V10 engine and 605 hp, fierce design and, not least, its incomparable driving experience, the Porsche Carrera GT remains an icon among super sports cars to this day.

Porsche hybrid technology reached a spectacular zenith with the 918 Spyder. In September 2013, the 887 hp two-seater was the first road-approved vehicle to crack the seven-minute barrier on the 12.8-mile Nürburgring Nordschleife, completing the lap in 6:57 minutes. Porsche aims to stay true to this standard of the highest e-performance: our vision, should the Mission X go into series production, is for it to be the fastest road-legal vehicle on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Modena, 27 February 2023 – A second appearance to replicate the success of and exceed the previous incarnation of an event now confirmed as one of the most exclusive in the world of vintage cars. The weekend was the stuff of dreams for aficionados of the highest of society dos. That was the I.C.E. St. Moritz, which brought together the international jet set, the rarest and most appealing classic cars, the most esteemed collectors, as well as so many big fans of elegance and the most iconic and impeccable style, in this prestigious Swiss venue on February 24 and 25.

When it comes to exclusive elegance, Maserati very much had to be there. The Italian luxury brand, partner of the ICE (International Concours of Elegance) – St. Moritz, took part by displaying some of its most desirable creations from the past and future. Of the unique specimens and new electric models on show, the Trident’s cars undisputedly took a starring role, to the great admiration and appreciation of the public and the jury.

The Maserati 420M/58 Eldorado – created for the second 500 Miglia in Monza, held in 1958 – was unrivalled and took victory in the Open Wheels category of single-seaters built between the ’50s and the ’70s. Cars rarely seen in public that recall the belle époque of racing, when every race was a parade that could take people’s breath away. Other specimens held in great esteem included the elegant 3500 GT Touring and the Mistral, pioneer of the Trident cars that have been embraced by the wind.

One of the members of the jury was Klaus Busse, Head of Design at Maserati and creative author of the Trident’s modern creations. The Grecale SUV made an appearance at St. Moritz in its futuristic one-off “Mission from Mars” edition, as did the unmistakable MC20 Cielo spyder, in its Fuoriserie version, alongside the latest arrival, the new GranTurismo, in the exciting Trofeo version and in its 100% electric variant, GranTurismo Folgore, the first full-electric in Maserati history.

In an itinerary on the frozen lake created ad hoc to the delight of the collectors who enthusiastically rushed there to show off their gems of motoring, the glamorous and sparkling atmosphere – full of history and modernity – once again made every single moment of the I.C.E. St. Moritz magical and extraordinary.

Inaugurada en 2021 como parte de una asociación con Wearnes, un minorista líder en automóviles de lujo establecido en 1906, la hermosa sala de exposición inmersiva fue el lugar de exhibición ideal para el W16 Mistral, con muchos invitados asombrados por el diseño elegante y atemporal del roadster.

Maserati Project24: radically unique on the track

Modena, 22 July 2022 – Maserati presents Project24. A project (referred to by a codename) of a limited series of super sports car – only 62 units – to raise the brand’s unlimited performance to a new level of adrenaline on the track.

The truly extreme track-only car inherits the specifications of the Maserati MC20, enhancing it with technical specifications that have advanced even further: the state-of-the-art V6 Nettuno engine adds new turbochargers to raise its power to 740 hp, innovative suspension, carbon-ceramic braking system and tyres tuned up for racing, as well as FIA-approved safety features.

Based on the brand’s obsession with lightness, the target weight of the new Maserati vehicle will be below 1,250 kg. The perfect combination of output and lightness result in an astonishing vehicle with a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 1.69 kg/hp.

Designed by Centro Stile Maserati, the Project24 has a completely new look. This time, Maserati design pushes the boundaries to the limits, free of the constraints usually seen in a racing car*. The result is something never seen before, combining beauty with genuine sporty capabilities to become an instant classic collector’s item.

Project GTP Hypercar previews design of 2023 IMSA and WEC race car

Cadillac today revealed the Project GTP Hypercar that previews the third-generation prototype race car from the American luxury brand. In 2023, Cadillac will contest the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the FIA World Endurance Championship, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
