Engel & Völkers lists residence of Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button in California
- ‘Casa Encanto‘ estate in Calabasas hits the market for 7.9 million US dollars
Hamburg, 25 January 2024. Engel & Völkers is selling the property of Formula 1 star Jenson Button and his wife Brittny Button in Calabasas, California, with an asking price of 7.9 million US dollars (approx. 7.3 million euros). The hacienda-style residence showcases a blend of traditional influences, contemporary design and luxurious finishes. “We renovated Casa Encanto extensively in 2021. We stuck with a tonal palette to create an airy atmosphere with the remodel. Our aim was not to create just a home, but a retreat, providing an oasis of calm in contrast to the bustling daily routine and city life,” says Brittny Button, interior designer and wife of Jenson Button.
The property is being brokered by Jaime Krupnick, real estate advisor at Engel & Völkers Westlake Village.
Casa Encanto: West Coast flair meets hacienda chic and laid-back elegance
The 2.3 acre (approx. 23,000 square meter) “Casa Encanto” (meaning “charming house”) is located in Calabasas, just outside Los Angeles. Thanks to its scenic and secluded location in the mountains, as well as its many leisure pursuits and exclusive homes, Calabasas is one of the most sought-after places to live among Hollywood’s elite and other internationally famous stars.
A long private driveway leads to this beautifully crafted legacy estate, which features a white stone façade in the style of a traditional Spanish country house. The expansive interior spans some 8,400 square feet (approx. 780 square meters) in total, with six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a spacious living area, a designer chef’s kitchen, walk-in closets, a custom lounge and bar area, as well as a separate home gym. Some highlights include the central living space, which is flooded with natural light and features high ceilings and an open-plan layout leading to the gallery on the upper level. Various sitting areas and a modern marble fireplace emphasize the combination here of casual comfort and elegant flair. Large, black-framed patio doors open to a backyard oasis featuring a covered terrace and resort-style private pool enveloped with greenery and seasonal florals with panoramic mountain views.
In September 2021, Brittny Button and her team set about redesigning and modernizing the 1980s villa entirely, taking care to preserve its original character. Particular attention was paid to the interplay between linear design, organic shapes and contrasting accents: The calming cream plaster of the walls works in harmony with the warmth of the exposed beams, the abundance of natural materials and the black frames throughout. The spa-like bathrooms feature wash basins carved out of natural stone, while the chef’s kitchen is entirely clad in natural wood and ideal for socializing with friends and family. “Every room makes you feel like you’re in Majorca and California all at the same time. Jenson and Brittny Button have an incredible sense of how to make a home both aesthetically pleasing, and yet also cozy and inviting. Properties with an unmatched attention to detail and such a high caliber in terms of quality standards rarely come on the market, even in Los Angeles,” says Jaime Krupnick.
The interior furnishings can be purchased individually on request.
