Introducing the new Buceador Caribe “Pipin” with Pipin Ferreras at the SIAR 2022

Cuervo y Sobrinos was exhibiting last week at SIAR 2022 (Salón Internacional Alta Relojería México Cuervo y Sobrinos ), the most important fair for the watch industry in Latin America. At this event, the brand unveiled a new version of its popular divers’ watch, the Buceador Caribe ‘Pipin’ Edition.

This limited edition has been designed in collaboration with Pipin Ferreras, the legendary Cuban free-diver, and friend of the brand. This new addition to the Buceador collection is dressed in green tones and enlivened with black, cream and orange accents. Pipin was attending the exhibition and gave interviews to the medias.

Last year, Cuervo y Sobrinos announced a partnership with Cuban free-diver and multiple world record holder, Pipin Ferreras. Shortly thereafter, Pipin began working with the creative team at Cuervo y Sobrinos, developing a divers’ watch imbued with their shared appreciation of Cuban style.

Already impressed by the brand’s Buceador model, Pipin was keen to use this as the basis for his inaugural collaboration with the Cuban-Swiss company. The model is named Buceador Caribe ‘Pipin’ Edition and encompasses several design elements that are personal to the legendary free-diver.

In addition to the SIAR event, Artis Distribution, the exclusive distributor of Cuervo y Sobrinos in Mexico, organized two other meetings during this week: An inaugral event at Berger Masaryk in Mexico, one of the prestigious and renowned retailer in town, and a dinner with cigar tasting at La Bodeguita del Medio where he invited its best customers and the press to present the Cuervo y Sobrinos 2022 and in particular the new Buceador Pipin.

The depths of the Mediterranean harbor a natural treasure: Posidonia oceanica – an aquatic plant essential to the sea’s balance. Breguet depicts the plant’s arabesques on the Marine Haute Joaillerie Poseidonia through the art of mother-of-pearl marquetry and invisible setting.

Tourbillon Pharrell Williams Richard Mille RM-52
Mankind has looked at Space from the Earth for time immemorial. But with the RM 52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams, the Earth is observed from Mars, a viewpoint expressing one of Pharrell Williams’ dreams. One almost fulfilled in this new model, interpreted by the Creative Development team at Richard Mille: an engraver, an enameller and a painter who, working together, have brought into being an extraordinary piece of contemporary, unconventional watchmaking.

Manual Winding Tourbillon Pharrell Williams

PHARRELL

The man from another planet

Maybe the word that best sums up Pharrell Williams is ‘universal’ —in every sense of the term. A deep link to the cosmos is something he felt very early on. No surprise, then, that Pharrell grew up a major fan of Star Trek, as anyone will know who has seen him use a Vulcan salute when conveying the name of his label, Star Trak. He has never made any secret of his fascination for the cosmos, or of the deep sense of spirituality he derives from it, of the wholeness at the centre of things.

Conjuring the visions, fantasies, and other imaginary projections of the brand’s partners is a familiar quest for Richard Mille, one that begins all over with every new adventure. A truly artistic project, the development of the RM 52-05 is special for the way it hinges on interpreting an idea, a symbol and a desire. This last has taken the form of a tourbillon whose originality lies in its astonishingly multidisciplinary techniques.

Paris, 16 December 2019 – Yesterday in the heart of the Fondation Louis Vuitton, an emblematic site dedicated to art and culture, Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot, and Vincent Roy, Brand Director of Hublot France, Belgium & Luxembourg, welcomed over 200 guests to celebrate art, a subject close to the heart of the Swiss watchmaking house, at the end of this year. Brand ambassadors, exceptional guests invited by Hublot for the occasion, including the artists Richard Orlinski and Marc Ferrero, were able to celebrate the “Hublot Loves Art” theme that the House embodies through its watchmaking creations, which combine technique and artistic aestheticism, in an electro-atmosphere orchestrated by Dixon, Pedro Winter and Jean Tonique. The guests were swept away by the choreographer Léo Walk and his company, La Marche Bleue, and the rhythm of their organic and poetic gestures. The football world champion and brand ambassador Kylian Mbappé surprised guests when he arrived on stage, much to their delight.

HUBLOT CELEBRATES ART FOR A NIGHT IN PARIS

In the course of the exhibition devoted to Charlotte Perriand, 20th-centruy architect and visionary creator, guests had the chance of brushing shoulders with Booba, Presnel Kimpembe, Stephane Bianchi, head of LVMH watch division, Jean Roch and Anais Pedri, Carla Ginola, Habib Beye… who, at the end of the evening, could discover the work being painted live by Marc Ferrero.

In the name of Hublot, I wanted to thank the Fondation Louis Vuitton for welcoming us in this unique and incredible place. Art has always been at the heart of the brand, which wanted to spend an evening celebrating all the artists with which it has collaborated, some of whom honoured us with their presence last night.
Ricardo Guadalupe
CEO HUBLOT

We were happy to be able to bring together clients and partners to celebrate the end of the
year in a modern and uninhibited atmosphere, which, just like Hublot, combined different
artistic disciplines such as music, dance and design.

BRAND DIRECTOR HUBLOT FRANCE, BELGIUM & LUXEMBOURG

This evening was also an opportunity to once again present Hublot watches with new features launched in 2019, such as the new Big Bang Sang Bleu, the Classic Fusion Ferrari GT, and the Classic Fusion Orlinski line.
Inaugurated in 2014, the Fondation Vuitton represents the fusion between the lightness of glass architecture and a story rooted in the French culture of the 19th century. As much as in the very design of the project as in the start of work, the Fondation project shook up the principles of architecture, like Hublot which is, par excellence, the watchmaking brand which shook up the deep-rooted traditions of Watchmaking by offering the first gold watch on a rubber strap, in other words a precious metal on a less noble material.

HUBLOT
Founded in Switzerland in 1980, HUBLOT is defined by its innovation, which began with the highly original combination of gold and rubber. This “Art of Fusion” stems from the imagination of its visionary Chairman, Jean-Claude Biver, and has been driven forward by CEO Ricardo Guadalupe since 2012.
The release of the iconic, multi-award-winning Big Bang in 2005 paved the way for new flagship collections (Classic Fusion, Spirit of Big Bang), with complications ranging from the simple to the highly sophisticated, establishing the extraordinary DNA of the Swiss watchmaking house and ensuring its impressive growth.
Keen to preserve its traditional and cutting-edge expertise, and guided by its philosophy to “Be First, Different and Unique”, the Swiss watchmaker is consistently ahead of the curve, through its innovations in materials (scratch-resistant Magic Gold, ceramics in vibrant colours, sapphire), and the creation of Manufacture movements (Unico, Meca-10, Tourbillon).
HUBLOT is fully committed to creating a Haute Horlogerie brand with a visionary future: a future which is fused with the key events of our times (FIFA World CupTM, UEFA Champions LeagueTM, UEFA EUROTM and Ferrari) and the finest ambassadors our era has to offer (Kylian Mbappé, Usain Bolt, Pelé).

THE FONDATION LOUIS VUITTON
Inaugurated in 2014, this space designed and created by Frank Gehry dared to use the technological achievements of the 21st century, opening the way for pioneering innovation. The ambition of the architect, Frank Gehry, was to “design, in Paris, a magnificent vessel symbolising the cultural calling of France” through 11 exhibition galleries overlooking 7,000 m2.
