Automobili Lamborghini celebrates 60 years as an icon

Automobili Lamborghini marks its 60th anniversary in 2023 with a full schedule of events

Sant’Agata Bolognese, February 15, 2023 – Sixty years ago, in an area that at the time was open countryside, construction of the Automobili Lamborghini factory began. The company was established on May 6, 1963, realizing Ferruccio Lamborghini’s dream of becoming a manufacturer of sports cars, an industry back then dominated by just a few brands.

Right from the start, the founder and his very young engineers showed a passion for innovation and a desire to disrupt the dogmas of the sports car world, which were truly groundbreaking and led to a radical revolution. These values, which still form the cornerstone of the company today, would lead to the birth of legendary cars such as the Miura, a car which coined the term “supercar” and that has since inspired the entire automotive industry with its spirit and its styling. Over the years, Automobili Lamborghini has continued to evolve, creating icons of unique style, technology and performance, inspiring entire generations and millions of people by sharing its DNA and the values on which it was founded.

On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Automobili Lamborghini is organizing a series of events worldwide, each unique but all engaging customers and their Lamborghinis; the official Lamborghini Clubs; and the dealerships and fans around the world.

The 60th anniversary celebrations began on January 19 with the opening of the remodeled Lamborghini Museum in Sant’Agata Bolognese, located in the original factory areas. The museum was renovated and rearranged specially for the celebrations with an exhibition entitled The Future Began In 1963.

The Lamborghini Day Japan – 60th anniversary, to be held on February 23 in Suzuka -Japan, is the first international event to kick off the celebrations. Hundreds of enthusiasts and collectors will gather in one of the most significant markets for the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based company.

In the United Kingdom, Silverstone Circuit will be the venue for Lamborghini Day UK on April 29 to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary, with over 300 Lamborghini owners expected to attend.

The next important event will be the 60° Anniversario Giro tour in Italy that will end on May 28 in the main square of Bologna with the Concorso in Piazza: a concours d’elegance and festive party open to the public, at which hundreds of Lamborghinis, collectors and fans from all over the world will gather to celebrate the illustrious history of the brand.

In the United States, the most important market for Automobili Lamborghini, the “60th Anniversary Giro” is scheduled this summer.

Come September, 60th Anniversary celebration continues in Automobili Lamborghini’s second largest single market in Chinese Mainland where Lamborghini customers will participate in its signature “Giro China” for the ninth consecutive year. Over 100 Lamborghini owners and enthusiasts will gather to round up the celebration with the “60th Anniversary Gala Dinner”.

As well in September, Lamborghini Polo Storico, the division responsible for the protection, preservation, and restoration of the brand’s motoring heritage, plans to organize the “60th Anniversary Polo Storico Tour” reserved for Lamborghini classic cars in Italy.

In October, the Vallelunga circuit in Rome will host the very first Lamborghini Festival. In this grand event, organized for the first time and open to all fans, the House of Sant’Agata Bolognese will celebrate the brand and its track-oriented cars.

Then in November, the Grand Finals of the Super Trofeo Lamborghini, the one-make championship reserved for the Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 racecars, gathering cars from three continents, will be held at the Vallelunga circuit in Rome.

The official Lamborghini Clubs around the world, now present in 24 countries with more than 1600 members, are also planning anniversary tours and events in their respective countries, as well as a number of tours in Italy with their final destination the Lamborghini headquarters in Sant’Agata Bolognese.

OMEGA: SE VE MÁGICO. FUNCIONA MARAVILLOSAMENTE.

Parece mágico.
Funciona maravillosamente.

.

The centrepiece of the campaign is a visually compelling movie, created by the same studio that produced the 3D Co-Axial video, now showing at the OMEGA Museum. It is from here that OMEGA has drawn its eye-catching pictures and designs for print media and window displays.

Porsche Design celebrates its 50th anniversary

Stuttgart. Porsche AG congratulates Porsche Design on its golden jubilee. Two very special cars are the highlights of the anniversary year: the exclusive Porsche 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design and a historical 911 S 2.4 Targa from Porsche Design’s founding year of 1972, which has been faithfully restored by Porsche Classic. What unites them is the colour scheme, which, in recalling the legendary Chronograph I designed by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche in 1972, sees both the exterior and the interior dominated by the colour black. Alongside them, Porsche Design is also presenting the Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition. The Porsche Museum will be celebrating the anniversary with its own special exhibition, opening on 19 January 2022.

“When you rethink the function of something, the form sometimes emerges as if by itself” – this was how F.A. Porsche described what still drives the engineers and designers at Porsche Design today. In 1972, he founded Porsche Design with his brother Hans-Peter. The designer of the Porsche 911 envisaged a company that would carry the principles and spirit of Porsche beyond the boundaries of the automobile. Porsche Design has long since become an internationally renowned premium lifestyle brand, known for functional and durable products with a purist aesthetic.

Exclusive special edition: a modern take on a design classic
The 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design is a limited run of 750 cars with numerous features inspired by the iconic designs of F.A. Porsche. In addition to the all-black exterior, the nods to the past include the classic checked Sport-Tex seat centre panels and the red second hand of the Porsche Design Subsecond clock in the Sport Chrono Package, which comes as standard.

The special edition is based on the 911 Targa 4 GTS and can be ordered now from 185,606 euros¹. The anniversary model will arrive with European sales partners from April. Buyers can also purchase a special version of the new edition of the legendary Chronograph I. Features such as the edition number and wheel-shaped winding rotor underline the connection to the 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design.

Totally unique: a 911 S 2.4 Targa signed by F.A. Porsche
For the past two years, Porsche Classic has been working on a unique project to celebrate 50 years of Porsche Design. A 911 S 2.4 Targa from 1972, the year Porsche Design was founded, has been restored for the anniversary. “The vision was to produce a historical counterpart to the new 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design,” explains Ulrike Lutz, Head of Porsche Classic. “With the aid of the new Sonderwunsch (special wishes) programme, we were able to implement the idea of a unique pair of vehicles. The job of the designers and works restorers was to carefully transfer the specifications of the new car to the classic.”

The base vehicle, a 911 T 2.4 Targa from 1972, was in a poor condition and was missing some parts. While this would normally be a tricky start to a restoration project, on this occasion it wasn’t important for the planned modifications. The Porsche Classic experts completely upgraded the engine and chassis to the spec of the S version. The top-of-the-range model in its day, it had a displacement of 2,341 cc, which generated 190 PS at 6,500 rpm, and was equipped with mechanical fuel injection.

In tribute to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, this one-of-a-kind vehicle features the same colours as the legendary Chronograph I watch that he designed in 1972, with black dominating both the exterior and interior. Classic side stripes with a Platinum satin finish and integrated Porsche Design lettering adorn the flanks. As a special highlight, the Targa roll bar has also been lasered in a Platinum satin finish – a new interpretation of the brushed stainless steel of the original classic model. The Targa lettering is finished in matt black. Like the special edition model, the grille on the rear engine cover features a ‘Porsche Design 50th Anniversary’ badge with a reproduction of F.A. Porsche’s signature.

Other anniversary products and accessories
For all Porsche and watch fans, Porsche Design is also presenting the Chronograph 1 – 1972 Limited Edition with a historical logo and lettering. This edition of the original, limited to 500 examples, has no visual parallels to the new special edition car and is available in the usual way from Porsche Design.

Limited Capsule Collections in the fashion, shoes and sportswear, luggage and accessories ranges, as well as special eyewear collections complete the anniversary offer.

About Porsche Design
“Good design must be honest,” F.A. Porsche always emphasised. He designed the legendary Porsche 911 and founded the design studio in 1972. Today, Managing Director Roland Heiler and his team still follow that philosophy. Using authentic materials, they design carefully thought-out, functional and durable products with a purist aesthetic. As the in-house design team of the Porsche Design brand, their inspiring high-quality products include watches, sunglasses, luggage and leather goods.

With locations in Zell am See, Berlin and Ludwigsburg, Los Angeles and Shanghai, the design office also offers its services to international clients. This results in first-class consumer goods, household appliances and industrial products – for example in collaboration with Elan, KEF, LaCie, Morita and Panasonic.

The choice of materials plays a decisive role in Studio F. A. Porsche’s products. Titanium and carbon can turn them into lifetime companions and add new, unexpected functions. The combination of traditional, honest design approaches with ambitious innovations turns the products into genuine luxury items.

Special exhibition at the Porsche Museum
The Porsche Museum is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Porsche Design with a special exhibition that will run until 11 July 2022. Part of it will feature information on the life of F.A. Porsche, his design philosophy and his huge creative influence. Exhibits spanning five decades and many product ranges will also be on display.

Symbolising the birth of Porsche Design is the Chronograph I, with two versions of the legendary timepiece forming the centrepiece of the special exhibition. The design concept radiates from this centrepiece through to the other exhibits. These include, for example, the P8478 aviator sunglasses, the Monobloc Actuator chronotimer series with fully integrated stopwatch pushers, as well as the P3613 tobacco pipe and the P9521 mobile phone. Items on display on the balcony of the Porsche Museum include the 993 Speedster owned by F.A. himself – as well as the 904 that he described as his masterpiece. The 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa restored by Porsche Classic and the new 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design will also form part of the special exhibition.

With its timeless beauty, Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como has provided a residency for the aristocracy, princesses, marquises, sultans and tsars for centuries. Considered one of the most breath-taking architectural works of the sixteenth century, every year, this elegant five-star resort welcomes automotive enthusiasts from all over the globe to the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Here, they can appreciate the spectacle of some of the finest automobiles and motorcycles, in both production and prototype form, ever created. This year, visitors could also enjoy Bugatti’s stunning Centodieci, which the French luxury brand was presenting in the ‘Concept Cars & Prototypes’ category over the previous weekend from Saturday 2nd to Sunday 3rd October 2021.

Bugatti unveiled the Centodieci – which translates as 110 in Italian – during Monterey Car Week in California at the Quail in 2019 to celebrate the company’s 110th anniversary. Inspired by the legendary Bugatti EB110 of 1991 and powered by the 8.0-liter W16 engine producing 1,600PS, just 10 Centodieci units will be hand-built at Bugatti’s Molsheim Atelier and be delivered to customers next year. All ten Centodieci models had already been accounted for by customers prior to the car’s unveiling.

A Concours d’Élégance for automobiles was first held at Villa d’Este back in 1929, and Bugatti has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with the event. Recent highlights have included the Bugatti La Voiture Noire taking the premiere prize in the ‘Concept Cars & Prototypes’ category the last time the event was held in 2019. Models from Bugatti’s illustrious past, such as the 1937 Type 57S four-seater sports tourer, the 1934 Type 59 Grand Prix car and the 1938 Type 57SC Atlantic, have all been awarded significant accolades in recent years.

This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Bugatti EB110. The groundbreaking and first supercar of its time represents the mid-period of Bugatti’s history, when Bugatti Automobili S.p.A. was based in the famous ‘Blue Factory’ in Campogalliano in Italy under the stewardship of Romano Artioli. Introduced in 1991 to mark 110 years since the birth of Ettore Bugatti in 1881, the EB110 elevated the supercar genre to a new level. It featured a revolutionary engineering package that included a carbon fiber chassis and a 3.5-litre 12-cylinder engine with five valves per cylinder and quadruple turbochargers. The transmission was also incorporated within the engine block to create more space for cabin occupants. Exemplary grip, traction and safety were delivered by four-wheel-drive, another key D.N.A. strand that remains pivotal to today’s production Bugatti models.

The historic supercar model – a blue (originally silver painted in “Grigio Chiaro metallizzato”) EB110 SuperSport – presented at Villa d’Este in the class “The Next Generation: Hypercars of the 90s” was formerly owned by Romano Artioli. The Italian entrepreneur, who relaunched Bugatti as Bugatti Automobili S.p.A. in 1987, prior to the company’s closure in 1995, has fond memories of the development of this revolutionary supercar. “While we were at the premiere of the EB110 in Paris in 1991, the engineers back at Campogalliano were urging us to return swiftly to the Blue Factory, as they were eager to begin work on the EB110 Supersport version. Everyone was focused on reducing weight and boosting power, while keeping in mind that I was ferocious that the safety characteristics of the car be upheld.”

The final result was a quite remarkable weight reduction of nearly 150kg from the original configuration, and an increase in performance from 560PS to 612PS, with the engine developed entirely in-house at Campogalliano. Immediately after the EB110 SuperSport was presented to the world’s press at Salon de l’Automobile in Geneva, the team took the car to the Nardò circuit in the South of Italy, to carry out the homologation tests.

“After a warm-up lap we set the world record with a speed of 351 km/h and an acceleration of 3.2 seconds from 0 to 100 km,” recalls Artioli proudly. And it didn’t stop there. The car also set a speed record on snow and ice at 296km/h, while a Bugatti EB110 GT powered by natural gas achieved at top speed of 344.7 km/h.

“I left my heart in my Supersport. No other car gives the same sensation of power, control and safety in every road condition as the EB110 – and with such beautiful style. I could not be more proud for “her” to be at the Concours d’Elegance in Villa D’Este.

“The Centodieci Concorso d’Eleganza at Villa d’Este is one of the jewels in the crown of the automotive season,” explains Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. President Stephan Winkelmann. “After the event was lost to the pandemic in 2020, it is even more special for Bugatti to return to the wonderful location of Villa d’Este and present our Centodieci to customers and friends of the brand from all around the globe. And of course, the event is even more exciting with the presence of the personal Bugatti EB110 Supersport “America” owned once by Romano Artioli himself. This seminal supercar represents the second period of Bugatti’s history, and gave our designers and engineers the inspiration for the Centodieci.”

The Bugatti Centodieci was presented as a static display within the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este ‘Concept Cars & Prototypes’ area on Saturday 2nd October and again on Sunday 3rd October, the car also participated in the dynamic presentation parade.

THE LARGEST OFFICIAL BOND VEHICLE EXHIBIT IN THE UNITED STATES LOCATED IN THE MULLIN FAMILY GRAND SALON

OPEN September 25, 2021 THROUGH October 22, 2022

EXHIBITION ABSTRACT

Produced in collaboration with EON Productions and The Ian Fleming® Foundation, Bond in Motion is the first official exhibition in the United States to feature original vehicles from the James Bond film franchise. The exhibit celebrates the 60th anniversary of the 007 films, since Dr. No was released in 1962.

With the publication of his first spy novel, Casino Royale (1953), author and former naval intelligence officer Ian Fleming introduced the world to the enchanting exploits of James Bond, a British officer in the Secret Intelligence Service, also known as MI6. In all, Fleming would produce twelve novels and two short stories, laying the foundation for what would become a global literary and cinematic legacy.

Beginning in 1962, with the movie adaptation of Fleming’s sixth title, Dr. No, the exciting and dangerous world of James Bond was translated to screen, setting the tone for Bond films to come. Much like the novels on which they are based, Bond films combine the adventure of exotic locations and scheming villains with the action of death-defying stunts, and heart-pounding chases in nearly every type of vehicle imaginable. Often modified by quartermaster “Q,” these vehicles, much like Bond himself, conceal their true nature until their weapons and gadgetry become important plot devices.

The Bond in Motion exhibit offers visitors a rare up-close experience of the most iconic vehicles associated with the world’s most famous secret agent, 007.

  • The key components of the Huayra R project are on display;
  • Participation in the Monterey Rolex Motorsports with public display on “Pagani Island”;
  • A Parade of Pagani Hypercars, dedicated to customers, at Laguna Seca Racetrack.

August 5, 2021, San Cesario Sul Panaro – At the 2021 edition of the Monterey Car Week, Pagani Automobili celebrates 10 years of the Huayra with the world premiere of the key features of Huayra R and an exclusive exhibition of the different models that have marked the evolution of the model from 2011 to date. The first Huayra BC equipped with the brand new Pacchetto Tempesta and one of the 40 Huayra Roadster BCs will also make their debut on The Quail stage and at the Laguna Seca raceway.

After the 2020 edition of Monterey Car Week was cancelled due to the pandemic, the most awaited event in California, dedicated to the world of historic and modern cars, returns from August 5th to 15th: a tradition of unparalleled automotive excellence for over 70 years. On the green hills of the Quail Lodge & Golf Club, on the occasion of The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, scheduled on Friday 13th August, Pagani Automobili will display a special selection of the models that have contributed to the brand’s global reputation, starting with the Huayra, the first Pagani car to be globally homologated, that since 2011 has paved the way to the North American market. These ultra-customized Hypercars, equipped with state-of-the-art technical and artisan solutions developed for the most recent projects, are the result of a long research and development process aimed at the continuous updating of Pagani cars. A service that the Pagani Atelier has always offered its customers over the years.

The new Pacchetto Tempesta is undisputed evidence of this know-how. Previewed at the Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, it was specially developed for the Huayra BC and takes advantage of the latest Pagani achievements. The new package allows the Huayra BC’s high-performance platform to be equipped with a range of upgrades and solutions aimed at further unleashing the car’s true racing attitude.

Starting with a new front splitter and dedicated air intake, the Pacchetto Tempesta maximizes aerodynamic efficiency with a new rear wing that features an integrated central fin, six-pipe exhaust system and new suspension, while enhancing comfort and looks with striking interior details and the all-new Soft Driving mode. Thanks to the enhanced optimized powertrain, the Huayra BC with the Pacchetto Tempesta unleashes its new potential with a power increase of over 8% to 827 hp and 1,100 Nm torque.

The key components of the Huayra R project are bound to be under the spotlight at the Monterey Car Week during the world premiere at the Quail Lodge & Golf Club: on display for car enthusiasts there will be the all-new Pagani V12-R naturally aspirated engine, the six-speed sequential gearbox created in collaboration with HWA, and the ultra-light Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 monocoque, specifically designed to provide the driving thrill of a true racing car, in line with the most stringent FIA requirements.

The racing set-up of the monocoque interior is testament to how even the most extreme, cutting-edge, models are fitted with unparalleled craftsmanship and unmistakably refined Pagani details.

On Saturday, August 14, the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Huayra model will continue at the iconic Laguna Seca raceway. A day of pure excitement. At the Monterey Rolex Motorsports event, all Huayra models will be on parade in front of thousands of fans and spectators at two different times of the day and, together with the main Huayra R components, they will be the feature attraction on “Pagani Island”, an area exclusively dedicated to Pagani cars.
Among the supporters of the event, Pirelli, one of Pagani Automobili’s historical partners, was happy to share their enthusiasm for the great achievements. In the words of Pietro Berardi, CEO of the North American Market: “Passion and the continuous desire to go beyond our limits are some of the values that Pagani and Pirelli have shared for over 10 years in one of the most fruitful partnerships in the automotive world. Over the last years with Pagani we have implemented several research and development projects, always focused not on only maximum performance but also new quality and safety standards: from the first record beaten in 2010 with a Pagani Zonda R on Pirelli P Zero at the Nürburgring, the iconic German racing track, to the use of Formula 1 modelling to develop the P Zero Trofeo R tyres for the new Pacchetto Tempesta for the Huayra BC. Last but not least, just a few months ago, on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps racing track, the record set by the Roadster BC equipped with specially developed P Zero Trofeo R tyres set a milestone in the history of “Motor Valley” super cars. With the new slick tyres, specially developed for the Huayra R, the outlook looks much brighter for the years to come!”
