HUBLOT BIG BANG DJ SNAKE

The most streamed French artist in the world, with a slew of international hits, DJ Snake is joining forces with Hublot to unveil an exclusive creation: the Big Bang DJ Snake. A watch boasting a myriad of facets, just like the talented artist who inspired it.

“To be able to wear – and also offer my fans – a watch which reflects my personality is something that has been very important to me since the start of my partnership with Hublot. I am delighted to have been able to combine my inspiration with the expertise of the fantastic watchmakers and technicians at this Swiss brand.” – DJ Snake

“DJ Snake turns everything he touches to gold! We are thrilled to have been able to channel his outstanding creativity into this new limited edition piece. The result is truly multifaceted, just like DJ Snake’s talents!” – Ricardo Guadalupe, HUBLOT CEO

DJ Snake has such a huge presence in today’s musical landscape that he needs no introduction. The electronic music star first came to public attention with the track “Turn Down For What”, released in 2013. Since then, the hits have racked up: “Lean On”, “Loco Contigo”, “Let Me Love You” with Justin Bieber, and “Selfish Love” with Selena Gomez. Diplo, Kanye West, Lil Jon… the collaborations keep on coming! He became the first French artist to have two songs with over a billion plays on Spotify, and the awards have rained down: Billboard Music Awards; MTV Music Awards; and no fewer than three NRJ Music Awards.

Hublot and DJ Snake have been partners since January 1st 2018, when he presided over the decks at Hublot’s closing evening during the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Three years later, the first watch of this partnership is being unveiled:  The Big Bang DJ Snake.

The instantly recognizable and iconic design of the Big Bang now has an iridescent shine, with countless blue and purple hues. The bezel and the six titanium components of the 45-mm case are treated with a special and technical manufacturing process, similar to a black PVD treatment.  During the process, the different components of the watch must each be placed in specific positions when they are coated with different colors. The result is an optical effect in which the colors of the watch change depending on the light and when viewed from different angles. Not only that, but the surface of the parts was hardened before the iridescent treatment in order to improve its adherence. This operation is a complex one as it is difficult to obtain the same gradation of colour on each of the 100 watches being produced. The cut-outs on the outer edge of the bezel were designed by DJ Snake himself. These notches make the Big Bang DJ Snake immediately recognisable, distinguishing it from other collections. An illustration of the “Art of Fusion” philosophy so dear to Hublot!

On the upper face of the sapphire dial in the same colours as the case, a globe is featured, the signature of the electronic music star. A nod both to his travels across the planet for his concerts and to the fact that his hits have made the world his home. The lower section is skeletonised and treated to create sections with a black fumé finish.

This semi-transparent finish allows a glimpse of the famous calibre HUB1242 UNICO movement, a flyback chronograph with a power reserve of 72 hours.

Limited to 100 pieces, the Big Bang DJ Snake will be supplied with two straps which are easily interchangeable thanks to Hublot’s patented One Click system. The first is made from rubber, with a grey, black and purple camouflage pattern echoing the myriad colours reflected by the watch case. The second, also rubber, has a black ribbed structure. The clasp on these straps also features the same “Newton’s Rings” effect as the case and bezel.

HUBLOT WELCOMES THREE MICHELIN STAR CHEF CLARE SMYTH AS FRIEND OF THE BRAND

“At Hublot we work and think according to our motto ‘to be first, be unique, be different’, and we are proud to welcome Clare who so strongly embodies this ethos in her work in the UK and beyond. Cooking for and sharing meals with my loved ones is a source of great enjoyment, and I am delighted to celebrate a new Friend of the Brand from the world of gastronomy.” – Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot

London, UK Hublot is delighted to welcome Clare as a new Friend of the Brand, furthering our links with visionaries in the world of gastronomy.

Pioneering chef Clare Smyth has attracted world-renowned accolades and admiration for her ability to transform the finest local produce into globally acclaimed cuisine. Smyth’s restaurant, Core by Clare Smyth, which she opened in the heart of Notting Hill in August 2017, exemplifies the spirit of innovation and excellence championed by Hublot. While offering a relaxed dining experience, Core by Clare Smyth has attracted the most prestigious accolades in fine dining by reinventing the best British produce and delivering a new, world-renowned experience. The Art of Fusion
Hublot’s mastery of ‘The Art of Fusion’ is most evident in our tradition of innovation. From the first use of rubber in fine watchmaking, to creating new precious alloys such as scratch-proof Magic Gold. Hublot has consistently pioneered by discovering new purposes for materials and boldly combining them. In Clare’s reinvention of the British potato in her signature dish, ‘Potato and Roe’, she elevates a humble staple of British produce to the pinnacle of haute cuisine with imagination and ingenious care. In this bold reinvention we are proud to see an affinity with both ethos and approach to watchmaking tradition.

Meticulous expertise and a passion for fine artistry, blended together with time, are the ingredients of both gourmet cuisine and Haute Horlogerie. Precise timing is essential for chefs and patrons alike from the moment of ordering, plating up on the pass, and through to service. On entering the dining room, guests at Core by Clare Smyth will see proudly displayed in the centre of the kitchen a Hublot Classic Fusion wall clock; the heart of the restaurant beats to Hublot time.

“Having been a fan of Hublot for some time, I am delighted to join the family.  I admire the bold forward thinking and creativity underpinned with precision and expertise that makes Hublot so extraordinary.” – Clare Smyth MBE, Three Michelin-starred British chef

Clare joins Hublot’s growing family of culinary partners, with three Michelin star chefs Yannick Alléno, Andreas Caminada and Paul Pairet partnering with the Swiss luxury watchmaker. Clare Smyth was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2013 for services to the hospitality industry, and has been honoured to cook for some highly prestigious guests and at events including the Royal Wedding reception of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, in 2018.

Her soaring reputation has also attracted many television appearances including MasterChef, Netflix’s The Final Table, BBC’s Great British Menu, and The Late Show. Clare was also awarded World’s Best Female Chef by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, as well as the Chef of the Year Award at the National Restaurant Awards in 2019. In 2020, Clare announced her plans to open a new restaurant at a stunning location in Sydney in 2021. OnCore by Clare Smyth will overlook one of the most beautiful sites in the world, with a continued emphasis on sustainable food by harnessing the extraordinary local produce Australia has to offer.

Hublot continues to champion British excellence
Hublot is also delighted to form a connection with another leading light in the UK, joining Brand Ambassadors, Friends of the Brand and partners such as Dina Asher-Smith in the world of athletics, cricketer Kevin Pietersen, designer Samuel Ross and Chelsea Football Club.

Celebration of a new partnership
To mark the occasion, Clare hosted some of Hublot’s VIP clients and a selection of British press at Core by Clare Smyth in Notting Hill on Monday 21st June. Clare plated up a four-course menu consisting of consisting of Scottish langoustine, English wasabi and rose geranium, poached Cornish seabass, “Beef and Oyster” and a special golden Hublot edition of the Core-teser, while wearing the Hublot Classic Fusion King Gold Blue, which she recently chose at Hublot’s flagship boutique on New Bond Street.

Big Bang Integral Sapphir Tourbillon

BIG BANG INTEGRAL TOURBILLON FULL SAPPHIRE: A FEAT OF PURE SAPPHIRE

It is true that sometimes less is more – perhaps a lot more. With the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire, Hublot has taken its Art of Fusion to its ultimate conclusion. A new integral bracelet and case custom-made from sapphire: this feat affirms yet again the technical proficiency and the exceptional expertise that Hublot has acquired in the working of sapphire.

April 2021 – For some, this will seem a natural development. For others, it will be a total disconnect. The final result is a little of each. The Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire is the fruit of a long tradition. It is rooted in 2016, and the Big Bang Unico Sapphire, the first sapphire watch. With this piece, Hublot translated the expertise it had developed in machining very hard materials to create an exceptional series of sapphire watches. Today, Hublot is pushing these boundaries even further: the first Big Bang with an integrated case and bracelet, both of which are made from sapphire. A natural (r)evolution and a highly technical feat in equal measure.

Big Bang Integral Sapphir Tourbillon

Big Bang Integral Sapphir Tourbillon

” For such an exceptional creation, we opted for the new Automatic Tourbillon calibre with its sapphire bridges, the transparency of which creates a stunning spectacle. The act of creating an integrated case and bracelet from sapphire was, however, deemed impossible. But we were the first brand to gain perfect mastery of sapphire, industrialising it and making it reproducible in series production. It took us five years to bring our first sapphire cases to life – and almost as long for the bracelet. Producing both from sapphire and integrating them together is the pinnacle of the in-depth work undertaken by all of Hublot’s teams. We are proud to be the ones writing the first lines in this new chapter in the history of materials”. – Ricardo Guadalupe, HUBLOT CEO

Watchmakers are sometimes the only ones to know certain details of their watches. With a case and bracelet made entirely from sapphire, all secrets are revealed: the movement and casing fuse, and every aspect is visible.

The case of this new Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire has been reconstructed in its entirety to house the Automatic Tourbillon movement. The goal: to remove almost all of the visible screws, overhaul the general geometry of the case to integrate it with the sapphire bracelet, develop a new case profile to house the sapphire bracelet, and rework the bridges and main plates to give them the illusion of being suspended in space. Hublot also developed inserts and attachments which were reduced to their simplest expression, to allow light through every component. The case is thus composed of no fewer than 37 components, five of which are made solely from sapphire.

The bracelet was also a complex challenge: it alone comprises 165 components, 22 of which are made from sapphire. Each component had its own industrial process. A third of these were specially designed to provide unique harmony with the transparency of the case, and to offer fluidity and flexibility. Of particular note are the titanium inserts Hublot developed, ultra-reduced to ensure they do not protrude either side of each bracelet link – a first for the manufacture, and probably for watchmaking.

In terms of the movement, the HUB6035 automatic manufacture calibre, entirely designed and manufactured in-house, is the beating heart of the piece. It demonstrates a perfect balance between the micro-rotor at 12 o’clock and the tourbillon at 6 o’clock, and also with its three transparent sapphire bridges, exclusive to this new Big Bang. The components appear to be literally suspended in space. Each gear train is not only penetrated by light coming in from the dial side and passing through the skeleton movement on the other side: now, and for the first time, light enters the heart of the Big Bang Integral Tourbillon Full Sapphire from all directions. It is diffused, refracted, reflected, twisted and twirled – a fragment of light encapsulated on the wrist.

The Tourbillon with HUBLOT’S signature codes Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5 day power reserve carbon white

“The Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon White… different, yet resolutely Hublot. It combines the distinctive codes of our brand: 6 H-shaped titanium screws, “sandwich” case construction, the Art of Fusion with carbon fibre and composite inclusions, an HUB6020 skeleton tourbillon manufacture movement custom-designed for its tonneau case, a jewel of innovation and expertise showcasing the aesthetic approach to movement design central to the Hublot philosophy, and, lastly, strap interchangeability thanks to its patented One Click system.

In the seven years since its launch in 2014, the singular and distinctive Spirit of Big Bang has been cultivating its differences whilst incorporating the signature Hublot codes – 6 H-shaped titanium screws, a “sandwich” case construction, and a demonstration of the Art of Fusion.

With the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-day Power Reserve Carbon White, Hublot combines black with white, proving opposites attract. The 42-mm case, case back and bezel are crafted from carbon fibre featuring white composite inclusions. These white inclusions are formed of glass microfibres created as a non-woven fabric (NWF), used mainly to improve the breaking strength of composites: This NWF is then co-impregnated with the carbon fibres using tinted epoxy resin when the composite preforms are created in a special mould.

Released in a limited edition of 100 pieces, the Spirit of Big Bang Tourbillon 5-day Power Reserve Carbon White plays with contrasts and transparency with a sapphire case back and dial which reveal the ultra-aesthetic architecture of the HUB6020 manufacture movement. A skeleton tourbillon specially designed to sit within the tonneau case of the Spirit of Big Bang. A power reserve of 115 hours, hand-wound, with a 5-day indicator set at 8 o’clock. At 6 o’clock, the tourbillon cage completes one rotation per minute. Off-centre hours and minutes can be read at 3 o’clock.
Paired with a white lined rubber strap, the Spirit of Big Bang White embraces interchangeability thanks to its patented “One-Click” system.

HUBLOT MECA-10 CLOCK

The watch that inspired a clock: working together with the Jura-based L’Epée manufacture, Hublot has produced an oversized version of its famous MECA-10 manufacture movement for use in a table clock.

Hublot’s unveiling of its MECA-10 movement in January 2016 left watch enthusiasts stunned. The manufacture had reinvented the manual movement, offering peerless performance as well as a unique style inspired by the Meccano construction system. The unusual skeleton architecture gives the movement an arresting three-dimensional depth, which is clearly visible through the bridges and case back. Its exceptional 10-day power reserve – now an imperative for any decent manual calibre – is displayed on a disc that can be read on the dial.

In 2020, Hublot has introduced a unique product in an oversized version. The MECA-10 has been made four times larger for use in a table clock, while fully preserving its original specifications, including its 10-day power reserve.

“We have managed to reproduce the unique features of our MECA-10 movement on a larger scale. This feat of engineering was achieved thanks to the concerted effort of the teams from both Hublot and L’Epée. In this way, we are charting a new course for the hallowed tradition of clockmaking. ”

Ricardo Guadalupe

CEO OF HUBLOT

In order to enlarge its MECA-10 movement, Hublot enlisted the services of the L’Epée manufacture. The world-renowned clockmaking expertise of this Jura-based company made it a natural choice for the collaboration, and because designing a wristwatch is very different to creating a clock, it also gave Hublot an opportunity to showcase its famous “Art of Fusion” approach in a new branch of horology. This particularly impressive result was achieved by combining the expertise of the designers, constructors and master horologists at Hublot and Epée.

Strikingly similar to the original, the Hublot MECA-10 Clock is, in essence, an oversized version of its predecessor. Its spacious 19.60 by 18.10 cm case houses the precious movement, which comes in two versions. The first features Meccano-inspired angles and a ring in polished satin-finished steel and transparent composite. The second is covered with black PVD and the bridges supporting the gear trains are also coated in black. The notched crown at 3 o’clock is rubber-coated for a better grip when manually winding the movement.

Like the wristwatch version from which it takes its inspiration, the MECA-10 clock movement features a 10-day power reserve which is displayed on an indicator at 6 o’clock.

These two precious editions of the MECA-10 Clock, the fruit of a close collaboration between Hublot and L’Epée, are exclusive limited edition pieces reserved for true aficionados.

Swiss luxury watch brand Hublot celebrates its 40th anniversary with another Big Bang! After Place Vendome in Paris, Rue du Rhône in Geneva, 5Th Avenue in New York City, New Bond Street in London, Heritage in Hong Kong Tsim Sha Tsui district, now comes Chuo-dori Street in Tokyo for the brand world’s biggest Flagship Boutique.

HUBLOT LOVES TOKYO!

In 2020, Hublot is turning 40! During this anniversary year Hublot has a reason to celebrate, as on May 26, its largest flagship store, the Hublot Boutique Ginza, will open. After Place Vendome in Paris, Rue  du Rhône in Geneva, 5Th Avenue in New York City, New Bond Street in London, Heritage in Hong Kong, now comes Chuo-dori Street in Tokyo. The swiss luxury watchmaker is now present on an iconic location on Chuo-dori Street. The new boutique, also called the “Hublot tower” thanks to its 56-meter-high dynamic façade, will offer Hublot a stylish, luxurious and open space. The Hublot Boutique Ginza perfectly expresses The Art of Fusion, the brand concept focused on the blending of materials and ideas. Across three floors, customers will be immersed in the world of Hublot. Visitors will find the whole collection displayed on the ground floor, the VIP experience room on the second floor and the exhibition area on the third floor.

We are honored to celebrate the opening of our new flagship Boutique in Tokyo. In only 40 years, Hublot has seen many firsts and many successes, and today is again another milestone for our Maison. We have long had presence on the most prestigious streets in the world’s metropolises and from today in Japan too, our number one market. The “Hublot Tower” is a symbol of the fusion of modernity and tradition that we ardently pursue and uphold in all our actions.” -Ricardo Guadalupe, CEO of Hublot

The 56-meter high dynamic façade is the most idiosyncratic and artistic façade of the brand’s boutiques. The laminated glass panels scattered with mirrored pieces exhibits different sights: it reflects sunlight to create a beautiful glitter during the daytime, and at nighttime a luxurious glow appears to emanate from within.

The interior of the boutique, boasting the brand’s largest retail space at 330 square meters, reflects one of the important elements of Hublot’s watchmaking—its unique use of materials. The spacious boutique expresses on three floors the contemporary style so dear to Hublot: leather chairs, ebony tables, floors of marble or carpet, and an impressive staircase with sides made of zigzag laser-cut mirrored stainless steel.

Another highlight of the boutique is the crystal chandelier installed on the vaulted ceiling reaching more than 9 metres high, which can be rarely found in Japan. The entrance hall is full of a sense of openness and welcomes customers.

Each floor of Hublot Boutique Ginza expresses the fusion of quality materials and contemporary, luxurious beauty by boldly displayed pop artworks depicting Hublot timepieces and movements on the walls, stretching from floor to ceiling.
