Milan Design Week has made its return. Marcel Wanders
MILAN DESIGN WEEK 2022
After two years, the famous Milan Design Week has made its return. Marcel Wanders studio had the honour to introduce new, bold and unique designs in collaboration with FENDI Casa, FLOS, Up To You Anthology, FIAM, Natuzzi, Devon&Devon and Sahrai.
Designs by the studio were also to be seen at Moooi, Qeeboo, and Objets Nomades exhibition by Louis Vuitton.
Marcel Wanders studio’s first collection for FENDI Casa subtly translates signature design elements found in the FENDI fashion archives into an elegant interior setting. By adapting a metaphysical approach in the creation of these pieces, inspiration was drawn from Italian heritage, embracing its rich art, culture and craftsmanship using locally sourced glass, stone and textiles. This extensive collection consists of two mirrors, dining table, arm and lounge chairs, bed, sofa, as well as a sub-collection of lamps, exquisitely crafted with Murano glass.
The studio also proudly presented its newest creation for FLOS, Skynest. By weaving filaments of light, this unique lamp seamlessly combines both elegance and innovation.
Delicate textile tubes, integrated with LED lights, reminiscent of thread, are woven throughout the design of the lamp; creating a unique element of surprise, which challenges the bulb lighting archetype. This beautifully innovative lamp is available in four different colourways and in various models including Pendant, Ceiling, Wall and Ceiling to Floor variants.
“We are poets, secretly engineering” – Marcel Wanders, Creative Director, Marcel Wanders studio on Skynest Marcel Wanders studio also launched two new handbags in collaboration with Up To You Anthology: New Classic and Bouquet. This innovative brand creates unique designer bags originated from the creative energy of the most visionary talents in Architecture, Design and Art worldwide, and handcrafted by the best Italian artisans.
The Cristaline dining table designed for FIAM exemplifies subtle beauty and grace by experimenting with the unique technology of melting and forming glass, to create an intricate surface pattern which illustrates geometry and nature through a complex floral pattern translated to an elegant dining table.
Marcel Wanders studio celebrated the launch of its fourth collaboration with Natuzzi. Presenting the Adam collection, with a focus represented by the Adam sofa, born from the desire to integrate sustainable materials with a timeless design inspired by Puglia. Part of the Adam collection are also a dining table and coffee tables made from wood, giving a natural and handcrafted appearance to complete a luxury interior setting.
“We designed this collection not only to reflect on the Puglia region’s natural elements and rich artisanal history, but to give the Natuzzi sofa a second life” – Gabriele Chiave, Creative Director, Marcel Wanders studio The Secret Gardens collection designed for Devon&Devon was created with a holistic and poetic creative approach.
Individual elements are all dressed in a seamlessly flowing design and, when placed together, create remarkably immersive settings that produce dreamlike spaces. The first collection in collaboration with the brand consists of wallpapers and small and large ceramic decor slabs (all available in an array of different shades and patterns), a vanity table, three mirrors and a range of ceramic accessories.
“Devon&Devon collection aims to seamlessly connect the words between surfaces and objects, creating a magical illusion of being in a dream made of flowers and nature”. – Gabriele Chiave, Creative Director, Marcel Wanders studio
The limited edition Kaleido of Life Collection for Sahrai, includes three finely handknotted rugs in natural silk and wool. In this collection, Marcel Wanders studio had the freedom to design on a large scale artwork to create impressively massive textile pieces. The rugs are inspired by the natural elements: air (Lush), water (Allure) and earth (Charm). Each of the three elements is depicted through a computerized graphic creativity, which plays with the sensuality of natural forms.

The studio’s chief concern is to bring the human touch back to design, ushering in a ‘new age of design’, in which designer, craftsperson and user are reunited. In this process, Marcel Wanders studio defies design dogma, preferring instead to focus on holistic solutions rather than the technocratic. In this universe, the coldness of industrialism is replaced instead by the poetry, fantasy and romance of different ages, vividly brought to life in the contemporary moment. www.marcelwanders.com
